The KV cache does not fit in GPU memory forever. Bigger context windows, more users, and more simultaneous sessions all push inference toward the same constraint: memory.

On this Scale Out Podcast, Scality CTO Giorgio Regni and CMO Paul Speciale test whether object storage can act as a memory tier for LLM inference. On a 14K-token prompt, Scality ADI restored the cache in 166 ms versus 2.3 to 3 seconds to recompute it. Time to first token came within tens of milliseconds of DRAM and HBM.
