DAY 2 WHEN THE FLOOR CHANGES THE PLAN 👀
This 85m² garage was originally specified for a high-build epoxy paint system… but once we’d completed the full diamond grind and applied our DPM primer, the concrete told us a different story.
Thousands of pinholes became visible across the entire floor.
Rather than pushing ahead with the original specification and compromising the finished result, we discussed the options with the customer and made the decision to pivot to a full broadcast flake system.
Today consisted of:
🔹 Extensive pinhole filling
🔹 Full sand & preparation
🔹 Thorough clean
🔹 Base coat application
🔹 Full flake broadcast
And this is where this job got interesting… 👀
We had a selection of leftover flake from previous projects, so rather than waste it, we mixed our own custom blend of white, grey and black.
And we’ve officially named it…
THE GI JOE BLEND 🪖🔥
Almost a grey camouflage effect and it’s come out absolutely stunning.
This is also a perfect example of where a full broadcast flake system really comes into its own. Concrete is rarely perfect, and flake is fantastic for disguising pinholes, repairs, colour variations and other imperfections in the substrate, while creating an incredibly durable and seamless finished floor.
Sometimes being a flooring specialist isn’t about blindly sticking to the original plan it’s about understanding the concrete in front of you and choosing the system that’s going to produce the best result.
Tomorrow: scrape, clean & polyaspartic topcoat.
