Just thought I would let all my Smithomatic audience here know. We have been running classes at my workshop since June time. This Saturday we have Ollie teaching traditional sign writing skills. The course is excellent fun and a great way to learn a new skill. If you are interested be sure to sign up for the class and/or tell your friends!

I made this solid oak dresser for the house featured on Antiques Roadshow. I milled and planed the oak slabs myself before crafting all the joinery components. It’s finished with a rustic stain to complement the character of the house.

While I stuck to traditional joinery techniques for most of the construction, I didn’t shy away from modern comforts—there’s a built-in coffee machine, fridge, and a boiling water tap, all topped with a striking blue-grain marble counter.

A satisfying blend of craftsmanship and convenience.

The idea of starting my own art school has lived in my head for many years. Now it’s finally taking shape! I have created a space where you can shape timber, weld steel, sew fabric or prototype in plastic, while exploring the art and design ideas behind making. Over the coming months we will be rolling out hands on classes and one off events with guest specialists, so makers of every level can dive deep or try something new.
