We’re Hiring A Part - Time Mover / Driver (with room to grow)
Based in Swannanoa | Serving the Asheville Area & Beyond
Starting at $24/hr + tips
MUST be available Thursdays & Fridays

Move It or Lose It is Asheville’s only q***r women-owned, sustainable moving and junk removal company. We do physically demanding work with compassion, humor, and integrity, and we take damn good care of people and planet while we do it.

What You’ll Do

As a Helper:
- Pack, load, and unload furniture, boxes, and materials
- Safely lift and carry up to 150 lbs
- Support the team lead and follow direction
- Communicate clearly with your team and clients

As a Driver:
(All of the above, plus:)
- Drive a 16-ft box truck safely
- Navigate routes and manage timing/logistics
- Keep the truck clean, fueled, and stocked
- Help lead the flow of the job and problem-solve on the fly

Requirements
- Available Thursdays & Fridays
- Ability to lift/carry up to 150 lbs (we will be testing you on this)
- Comfortable with physically demanding, repetitive work
- Basic body awareness (we move smart, not just hard)
- Emotionally intelligent, can communicate under stress
- Adaptable and able to follow shifting instructions
- Inclusive, respectful, and compassionate toward ALL people
- Valid driver’s license (for driving role. The bus line does run close to our HQ)

Schedule
Typical days: ~8:30 AM – 5 PM
Hours vary greatly based on job volume

This load is headed to Curbie Recycling, where SOP is transformed into hydroseed and used for erosion control and land restoration.

Hi everyone. It’s me, Amalia, founder of Move It Or Lose It.

I write this today with a heavy heart:
It has come to our attention that an associate of Move it or lose it has been detained for an act of violence against a fellow member of the LGBTQ+ community.

We felt it necessary to share this and make it known that, going forward, this individual will no longer have any involvement with the company.

We do not protect or excuse anyone who has demonstrated themselves to be unsafe. We have zero tolerance for senseless violence. We believe victims, and we hold people accountable.

One of our core values here is that “We do the best we can with what we have, always.” What we have now, and must do our best with, is this information.

Move It or Lose It remains committed to being a safe resource and employer by and for the q***r community.

Never underestimate the power of a lever, or a good mover. Kev is our piano mastermind. When our lift gate was needed elsewhere and a piano needed moving he said “you got a pickup truck? Cause we can do it with a pickup truck.” It looks crazy but the whole process felt totally safe. Another happy customer!

Community run day! Books are bound to local book stores like .asheville as well as the downtown Asheville library. A bunch of decorative stuff and pet supplies went to and . Paper recycling and cardboard went to the transfer station and we took some scrap metal to BIMCO. A jolly good way to spend the day keeping things from the landfill!
