That octagonal top? Inlaid with rays of five exotic woods: ebony, satinwood, mahogany, teak, and palm wood. Carved acanthus legs, a graceful finial, centuries of craftsman coming together beautifully.

Satin wood was one of the most beautiful and highly valued exotic hardwood furniture of the late 18th century.

It was expensive, rare and reserved for the finest pieces. The timber speaks for itself.

No hardwood carried quite the same history as ebony.

Native to southern India and Sri Lanka, it was so prized that lesser woods were painted black simply to imitate it.

That tells you everything about the status this timber held.
