2023 note on Queenstown places for rent:

We have lots of houses, but mostly full all of the time.
Our tenants do leave sometimes. So do send me a message or text 027 2824578 with your exact requirements and maybe a place may have just come available!

Background on the Queenstown situation:

Since 1988 the QT council have generously supplied 1,000+ shops, hundred+ restaurants and tones of hotels.
Snowboarders were living in caves in 1988 and every year since workers accommodation has been scant!
They rented about 100 old box like cabins in the early 2000's and still rent a bunch of these near the Gondola terminal. Shocking conditions for someone to live in! (Like whole family's just now)
Otherwise they supply almost zero housing owned by government.
If they had built units and rented them for 30 years the council (and rate holders) would be affluent today. However as it is the council is pretty much broke.
They seem to still have absolutely no intention of building a supply of workers apartments.
They leave it to 'market forces' to house the workers.
For various reasons this does not work.
A couple or family builds a house and doesn't really want lowly workers cramping thier style.
Or an investor will run an AirBnB with a quality property. (They can't have this being depreciated by workers)
The situation may change in the long term with these imagined "market forces" however if Queenstown continues to expand quickly, there will be no extra supply becoming available (as per usual)

Maybe the council will build some units specifically designed for workers and rooms, then call the property agents to rent them out to 'the market' but I doubt this will happen as in our English adopted antiquated system government housing needs to be offered to the homeless poor people first.
That is a poor business model.
The country only needs to build 'extra supply' to catch up with demand. Not pay to house every one on social welfare for free.
If good people with jobs were housed in public housing for market rents, the government (tax payers) would become wealthy .
Those people would be moving from the older houses, then the people on welfare and poorer people would then move into the older houses for cheaper rent.
Not gonna happen sorry!

A private. Nice small unit for up to 3 persons near Fresh Choice supermarket. 8 minutes flat walk to the Queenstown centre.
Would suit two adults with a child 8 years plus. Or a group of three friends. The unit shares two fully furnished flats with 4 bathrooms to chose.
A good price place to start. Estimate $440 per week includes All expenses. Wifi, power, toilet paper, rubbish bins, wash machine, bedding...

All expenses included. Central Queenstown and Frankton places. Great flatmates. Fully furnished, Room share Girls only room. or guys beds and mixed. A single room in town just now. Hey. Funny thing renting: Most places are only available now or very soon! If you are coming to Queenstown later you won't find much available..🤔 That's why hotels are always available and expensive..🤣 Long term rental places just Pop Up when someone decides to leave Queenstown. Flat leaving notice is usually 2 weeks. It can be 1 day if poor old Granny dies and you gotta go. Or very few very well organized flatmates will know the exact day, months in advance (or some day around that date. Ha) Don't worry we made the 'ULTRA ROOM FINDER' 😁 It will send you an email when a tenant gives notice to leave. No spam! Only for the specific room/house you require and only for the area that you want to rent.
