Jennings is an established family-owned business that has been selling handmade Oriental rugs since 1960. Large stocks held in our Tewkesbury Showroom

The business was started by Jack Jennings in the summer of 1960, he always had an interest in the east and used his knowledge thru travel to set up this exciting business. Clare his daughter now continues this family tradition. People are always amazed at the diversity and selection at Tewkesbury, often surprised, as it is so unusual outside London, to find so many hand Knotted pieces. The carpets are from Iran, (Persian) Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir and India. Most pieces are produced using traditional home spun vegetable dyed wool. The silk pieces we have are either from Iran or Kashmir, traditionally knotted and beautifully detailed.

“Even though I'm the youngest of the three of us at Jennings, there’s something about a traditional floral-geometric design that always strikes a chord with me.

With that said, this piece is a mix of traditional(ish) styling, and a much more modern and contemporary colour palette.

The sunburst orange and emerald green really make this piece sing, and the design just puts the icing on the cake!”

“One of the first thoughts I had when choosing this fabulous rug was how a modern interpretation could enhance a classic piece.

I have no doubt that many of us will have a view on what a tree of life carpet might look like. This piece takes that onto an entirely different level.

The stunning birds sit proudly upon the elegant branches with the lush undergrowth of flowers stretching to reach the sun.

The skill behind the exceptional rug is evident, I believe the artistry simply shines through.

A real example of the move towards contemporising the traditional, encompassing timeless skills of natural wools vegetable dyed with hand knotting and an eye to the future.”

“Why did I choose it? Colour, it’s all about the colour.

I just love the vibrancy of the colours and the contrast against the navy blue. It is a really interesting botanical design in the most amazing colour palette.

Stunning, striking, opulent and just totally mesmerising.

So many beautiful colours that you can pull out for furnishings to go with it.

You don’t want to be covering this up with any furniture, it needs to be placed where it can be seen and admired for the stunning piece of art that it is.”

From Hand to Hue 🔸

Every shade of wool carries inherited knowledge, refined over generations of craftsmanship. Dyed by hand using natural tannins and vegetable extracts, the wool is carefully prepared in traditional dye baths, creating the rich, layered palette that defines the collection.
