Seen in auditoriums or churches in Denmark beginning as far back as the 1800s, the “slate chair” was designed with practicality—to accommodate a crowded public space—in mind. This simple, stackable approach to seating then became an inspiration to FRAMA for Chair 01: one of our earliest designs. Discover a dining chair designed for communal space, and suited to your own.

As a lead-up to Copenhagen Design Week next month, in May the FRAMA team travelled to LA and New York with The Mechanics of Scent exhibition and new collection previews in tow. At Canyon Coffee in Los Angeles, we gathered friends over Nico’s Wine and Petit Rond stools and chairs—and sent guests home with limited edition Canyon Coffee pouches with FRAMA-designed labels.

In New York, we warmed the newly-opened Canyon Coffee space in Brooklyn before New York Design Week officially got underway. A busy week at Assembly Line, Saint, and 180 The Store followed—with Aplos cocktails, spring weather, FRAMA Care, and good conversation as centerpieces at every stop. Thank you to all our friends, collaborators, and community who joined us over the past month: we hope to see you in Copenhagen for an expansion and homecoming of these ideas and celebrations in two weeks.

This year marks ten years of Apothecary: FRAMA’s signature fragrance. Now, the aroma is at the core of The Mechanics of Scent exhibition, and a sense of homecoming emerges for the scent’s ingredients—to St. Pauls Apotek, the interior which first inspired their combination.

Make a reservation to visit the exhibition, and take a piece home with you. On the occasion of Copenhagen Design Week, a special edition of gift boxes in the same stainless steel as The Mechanics of Scent’s central water wheel have been designed for the Apothecary Hand Cream Tube. Available at the Studio Store and online in a limited run of only 100 pieces.

At the headquarters for Simuero, the brand led by jewelry designers Jorge and Rocío, in Valencia, Spain, an appreciation for craft is clear throughout the space. In a dining nook, a table surrounded by Chair 01 illustrates the designers’ approach to materiality and leaving natural elements visible. The corner is inviting and carefully considered; just as Simuero is known for. The interior is defined by a calm uniformity studded with personal details: off-white walls, floors, and ceilings punctuated by a bright red table, a star-shaped lamp, a Rivet Box Table, and a T-Lamp in the warmest corner of the room.

The modular design of the FRAMA Shelf Library system is only one of the ways it shows its adaptable nature; its ability to grow into new interiors, or adapt to compact living. In three finishes, and with the option to attach a cotton canvas cabinet cover, the tone of the system is just as adaptable as its shape.

As a traveling exhibition, The Mechanics of Scent has been brought to life at Matter & Shape in Paris, at Marta in Los Angeles, and at 180 The Store in New York. Now, the installation comes home on the occasion of Copenhagen Design Week—and expands to introduce a collection of Scent Sculptures we’ve explored for the first time.

Across FRAMA Spaces, The Mechanics of Scent will be expanded upon to introduce new ways of exploring scent, inviting visitors to explore our most sculptural transformation of the Studio Store and Apartment 57a. Known as FRAMA’s signature scent, this year also marks Apothecary’s ten year anniversary: this exhibition thus marking a homecoming for the scent’s ingredients as well, to the interior which first inspired their combination.

The bathroom is one of the few rooms we return to every day—and one of the last we think to compose. Hand Lotion in Apothecary is made with its counter in mind. Cedar, sandalwood, and ylang ylang. Light enough for daily use, present enough to create a ritual.

To our friends, collaborators, and community in New York: please join us this Friday evening from 5-7PM at 180 The Store to welcome The Mechanics of Scent to the city. On view for the last time in the US before travelling home to Copenhagen, the opening celebration will explore the installation in good company, with refreshments from Aplos and Manojo Mezcal, new collection previews on view, and FRAMA Care available for purchase.
