Today we continue celebrating Laura Wakupa from DRC. Here is what she had to say.
"Being a woman entrepreneur or organizational leader in my country nowadays means being a role model. Times ago, women leaders were few in number and not powerful because they were considered as inferior to men. And now it is different because from the basic level which is the family, men realized that they cannot raise a whole family by themselves without help from their wives, and from then on, the community started trusting and relying on women as well. Girls are literate and they can apply their thinking sometimes better than boys. In my country, being a woman entrepreneur or organizational leader is a privilege for the whole nation, because when a woman is a leader, she bears the burden of both country men and country women but it is a shame that in my country this meaning of a woman leader remains somewhat theoretical but practically female leaders are still in shades except those who are really courageous enough to survive all the inequalities. It is in the nature of a woman to make sure that everyone is in perfect shape in order to progress. It is verified that results of a woman’s responsibilities are consistent and sustainable. A woman leader is a scholar above all else
I work on an Island in South-Kivu, a place which is somehow backwards where it is needed to make a shift in the mind of the population for their own development. I would wish to work in an international field related to youth empowerment through entrepreneurship management, particularly in countries affected by conflict and trauma from wars".
