The Springboks have become like a birthday that just keeps on giving presents! 💚💛

We couldn’t help but think of them while working on these dark green embossed birthday cards on textured board. The combination of the embossing, the colour and the texture is a winning combo just like our boys in green and gold. 🇿🇦

Tonight they go again and we’re expecting yet another birthday present. 😉

Double the machine power to create this finish. ✨

What looks like one detail on the finished piece is actually created in two separate processes.
First we foil the border which common element that appears across all the sheets.

Then comes the years-of-service block. Whether it’s 5 years, 10 years, 15 years or more, each milestone requires its own block and its own set-up.

So while the border remains consistent the years-of-service detail is changed and set up specifically for the milestone being recognised.

Two machines. Two foiling jobs. One finished piece.

Did you know we can tell a lot about the health of our machine just by listening to it?

That suctioning sound is more than just background noise.
When the suction is strong and consistent that’s a good indication that the system is working properly. If something is wrong with the suction the machine may struggle to lift the paper or pick up multiple sheets at once.

Every part of the machine matters.
For a seamless process and a consistent result, every component has to do its job properly and work together.

The clock is ticking….

There are some things that just catch your attention. It can be their shape, size, colour, design or meaning. These caught my attention in my recent trip. Some I’ve seen before but they still manage to capture my attention. I see a different angle from what I’d seen before. Inspiration is indeed all around us just waiting to be discovered.

As we start a new week, may we remain open to inspiration in whatever shape or form it may take. ✨

What a pleasant surprise to receive this beautiful video from ANN MALINGA ❤️

A keepsake that still exists to this day - little picture frames with a message thanking guests for coming to their wedding.
The message was created for that day but the frame can go on to hold other memories too.

Ann has kept this frame as is, as a reminder of a very special day in her life. Her beloved husband Robby has since passed on but It’s little things like this that can bring you back to a moment, a feeling, a chapter of your life and remind you of its significance.

She reminded me why I do what I do. Creating keepsakes that live beyond the day.

Thank you Ann for this beautiful reminder.

Sometimes we forget our WHY as we get caught up in the business of life, following trends, trying to keep up, constantly looking at what’s next when all along, the answer can be found in moments like these.

It’s not every day that we get to foil on velvet paper. So when it does go through our presses it’s truly special.

This particular job? Even more spectacular. 👏🏽

The block was large. The design was intricate and the pressure had to be just right. Too little and the foil wouldn’t stick in certain areas. Too much and we would end up with smudging.

Mike spent quite some time setting up the machine and fine-tuning everything to get the best possible outcome. The machine even went into the sick bay at one point, clearly feeling the stress of this delicate work too. 😂

Even the used foil tells a story. What’s left behind after the press has done its work is almost a whole design in itself. It’s a reflection of just how intricate this particular foiling was.

These are covers for bespoke boxes, which means every inch and every position matters. There’s very little room for error when the finished piece needs to be this precise.

We’re really pleased with how these turned out. 👏🏽👌🏽
