Ashford Oval is a private estate and event venue near Plettenberg Bay, set on a working macadamia farm with sweeping views of forests, farmland, mountains, and the ocean in the distance.

The venue is centred around a beautifully maintained cricket oval that was built as a legacy to the late Bill McAdam and has become a sought-after location for weddings and special events.

The expansive lawns, orchards, and elegant country-estate atmosphere create a spectacular backdrop for ceremonies, photographs, and receptions.

Sometimes I’m asked to take care of the legal side of a marriage when a couple chooses to have their ceremony elsewhere.

While these occasions can tend to be more formal, I always try to make them special and unique to each couple as they share their marriage vows with one another.

This particular ceremony took place in my wife’s beautiful therapy room rather than a traditional wedding venue, proving that it’s not the location that makes a wedding meaningful—it’s the love, commitment, and promises being made.

No matter where the ceremony happens, there are always emotions, happy tears, laughter, and a deep sense of joy as two people begin this new chapter together. It is always a privilege to witness and officiate these special moments.
