the species not being indigenous to South Africa, this tree brings back memories of good times spent in our beloved Cape Winelands. There’s something truly South African about oak; with it’s easily distinguishable leaves, it’s large overhanging canopy, and the unique aroma enjoyed by wine-lovers and carpenters countrywide, oak is simply a pleasure to work with. Our design aesthetic is simple: minimalism is at the heart of every Good Oak furniture piece, because we believe that design should never be noticed, instead, it should fade to the background so the object can be enjoyed without restraint. Our design philosophy is that form follows function, and all our pieces imbue this; right from the lumber yard, through to manufacture. Our value proposition is one of a fine balance between offering goods that are priced attainably, while being locally manufactured from premium materials and finishes. Despite the prevalence within the marketplace, we believe that good design should not be charged for, and should result with items being more attainable for all.
