🌳 Plant it right – or it won’t last the distance! 🌳

Quality CCA-treated poles from Nox Timbers are built tough, but even the best treated timber needs correct planting to give you maximum years of service.

Here are the key rules from the South African Wood Preservers Association (SAWPA):

✅ Never plant the cut end into the ground. Always use the uncut end.
✅ If you have to cut a pole, liberally brush a suitable remedial preservative onto the cut surface and replace the anti-split plate.
✅ Allow moisture to drain out – treated timber absorbs water and needs to release it.
✅ Concrete collar method (recommended): The concrete forms a collar around the post with the butt end protruding below the concrete.
✅ Solid base method: If planting on a concrete pad at the bottom of the hole, let the concrete set first before placing the pole.
❌ Never fully enclose the planted end in a concrete “cup” – this traps moisture and shortens the life of the pole.
