Today, we'd like to share something a little different.
Our newest creation is not a piece of furniture, but a painting.
Yet, in many ways, it was born from the same place as every piece we design in our workshop: a love for craftsmanship, a respect for the creative process, and a story waiting to be told.
"I took the first steps on this piece more than a year and a half ago.
At the time, I created the design, developed the 3D model, and completed the CNC carving. I thought I knew exactly where it was going and what it would become.
Then life happened.
My family and I left Hanoi and moved to Hoi An. There was a new home to create, a new rhythm to find, children to care for, a business to run, a team to lead, and eventually the relocation of our furniture shop. Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I lost touch with this piece—and, in some ways, with the artist part of myself.
For a year and a half, I didn't touch a single brush.
The portrait waited quietly while life demanded my attention elsewhere.
And then, a few days ago, something shifted.
Not a plan. Not a deadline. Just a feeling. A call.
I pulled the piece out again, looked at it with completely new eyes, and started painting.
What surprised me most was that everything I had imagined a few months ago disappeared the moment the brush touched the surface. I had a color palette in mind, a direction, a vision. My vision of it changed.
The painting became what it wanted to become.
The colors arrived instinctively. Layer after layer, the portrait revealed itself. It felt less like creating and more like listening.
The face in this portrait is not intended to represent one specific person. To me, it represents the beauty of identity itself—the stories we inherit, the cultures that shape us, the experiences that leave their marks on us, and the strength we carry beneath the surface.
The patterns surrounding the portrait symbolize those invisible threads that connect us to our history, our roots, and to one another. I wanted the face to feel as though it was emerging from those layers, carrying them with it.
In many ways, this portrait became a reflection of something I was experiencing myself: the feeling that we are all shaped by the places we've been, the people we've loved, and the journeys that transform us.
I finished it in only a few hours.
A year and a half of waiting.
A few hours of painting.
Sometimes creativity isn't about forcing the work. Sometimes it's about allowing life to happen, gathering experiences, changing, growing, getting lost, finding yourself again, and finally returning when the moment is right.
Looking at this finished portrait, I don't just see a face.
I see Hanoi.
I see Hoi An.
I see motherhood.
I see challenges, growth, uncertainty, resilience, and the quiet return of a part of myself that had been waiting patiently in the background.
And perhaps that's why this piece feels so special to me.
Not because it took a long time to make.
But because of everything that happened while I wasn't making it."
