Hey friends!!! I'm back. :) Sorry for the long "pause", but moving back to Ohio has kept me quite busy.

For those of you who don't know, my husband and I felt the hand God leading us back to our family in Ohio and I must say, what a whirlwind it's been! And as always, His timing was perfect. My sister was moving out of her home (downsizing) and we were wanting to 'upsize'...uhmmmm... ok, well... "I" was wanting to upsize, ha. Regardless, God blessed us by giving us the opportunity to purchase her home. Although her house has always been beautiful, I wouldn't be "me" if I didn't jump right in and begin to remodel everything! ;) Although it's been a long and tiring process, I'm very delighted with how it all turned out.

I also want to give a big shout out to my brother-n-law, Teddy, who helped me tremendously by hanging and plastering all the drywall. And another shout out to my beloved and dear friend, Bruce Fail, for helping me with the crown molding. You were BOTH such a blessing. As for the rest? Well, let's just say I'm BEYOND grateful that it's finished. It took many long and grueling days/weeks to complete, but it's now done. *** before and after pics below.***

I truly miss the many friends that I made during my journey with Faded Fences in Virginia and please know, you will never be forgotten. Although my business is now located in Ohio, I will still be posting my creations here on FB. So stayed tuned, there's more to come!!!

Until then, have a safe and blessed evening.

SOLD!!

For Sale: Curio Cabinet $85

Hello, Everyone! Well, our move seems to be coming upon us rather quickly. I can't believe it's already been 3 wks. and I STILL have plenty of packing left to do. 😕 Nevertheless, I have hope that all will be finished before the moving truck gets here this Saturday. YES...you heard that right!! Our last day is this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 20th.

Speaking of moving...since I am not able to take some of my personal refinished pieces with me, I have chosen to list them here in the hopes that they will find a new place to call home. 🙂 Starting with this beautiful cabinet. This 'reinvented' curio was once an end piece to an entertainment center that I had seen for sale online. Although I didn't need the entire entertainment center itself, I did need a cabinet to store my decorative bed linens when they were not in use, and this cabinet worked perfectly! Nevertheless, it has endless possibilities that I'm sure will fit your needs just as easily.

It has been sanded, thoroughly cleaned, primed, painted with 2 coats of DBCP "Fluff", then sealed well. The drawers are a good size and each has been lined with a brown velour fabric. This piece is in "like new" condition.

I accept Cash, Credit and/or PayPal (3.5% processing fee). Located in the Hickory area of Chesapeake.

This is a bittersweet moment for me as I sit here, trying to find the right words to let you all know that "Faded Fences" will no longer be stationed in VA. After many days and nights of fervently praying for God's discernment, my family and I have felt the hand of God leading us back up north, back to family. Because of this, we placed our house on the market last week. God blessed us with a quick sale, as it is now under contract with a closing date set for Nov. 23rd. I will, however, be back open for business at the first of the year...although it will then be stationed in Poland, Oh. So if any of you have friends and/or family who live in the Youngstown area, please feel free to send them my way. 🙂

On another note, I would like to thank each and every one of you for placing your trust in me with your precious belongings.
I have had many clients come and go throughout the years. But, I have also been blessed with even more that I now hold dear to my heart. Deanna Eisel Mary Ewell Kathy Fraas, Donna Berry--you are all dear to me and will always be remembered.

And Darlene P Jewell, you too will never be forgotten. Although we were only able to meet in person a few times, I will never forget our countless nights communicating online about God. However, it was our last conversation that will resonate with me forever, since it was only a few days later when the cancer had taken you home to our Lord and Savior. I feel privileged to have known you sweet friend, if only for just a short while.

I now leave you with prayers that everyone of you have a safe and blessed Holiday Season!!! Much love to you all!

I finally finished my niece's wedding gift and delivered it to her new home in Ohio!! Refinishing furniture is no easy task, let alone refinishing it for a family member's wedding gift. Can I just say...the pressure was on!! haha. She had sent a photo of what she wanted it to look like and I went from there. Since this is a special and momentous time in her life, I wanted to make sure it was absolutely perfect. I was literally shaking when I showed it to her because I was so nervous that she may not like it. But thankfully, she loved it!! I found a table and bench for her on Marketplace, but couldn't find any chairs that I thought would work for her style. So I decided to purchase them from Wayfair and chose to sand down the original paint finish (yes, they were brand new chairs!!) so they would match her table base. Sadly, the pictures don't show how beautiful the crystal buttons are. Instead they appear to be a yellow-gold. However, they're not. They're actually beautiful, clear crystals that add just enough "bling" to her decor. Also, the wood used for her table top and the wood for her bench didn't match. Because of that, I had to do a little "faux" wood painting to bring the 2 pieces together. I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out and am beyond thrilled that she loved it!! Thank you, Theodora Taylor Cougras for entrusting me with your dining set. I love you more then you know and wish you a beautiful, long, and healthy marriage!! **Prepping pics and original pics included.

While I was visiting family in Ohio these past few weeks, my sister asked if I could refinish her grandfather clock and hope chest. The clock was definitely a challenge (trying to get into all the internal grooves was a bo**er), but she's very pleased with how they both turned out. Each one was thoroughly cleaned, primed with 2 coats of primer, painted in DBCP's "Fluff" (the grandfather clock) and DBCP's "Driftwood" (hope chest). Then they were both distressed with DBCP's brown wax and sealed well. The top of the hope chest was also reupholstered and all the hardware was repainted in bronze. Thank you, Sheila Payne Cougras, for letting me do these for you!! :) **Pics go in order of the clock first, then the chest.

Another project is complete!

Mari had visited my shop last year to bring me a console table that she wanted refinished. While there, she saw my wall that I had built with recycled pallets and decided she wanted the same look for her kitchen backsplash, as well as a focal wall for her hallway. It involved a lot of hard work, long hours, plus, a little bit of pain too, (right Mari? ;) ), but I'm happy to say that it came out just as she wanted it to. I thank you once more, Mari, for entrusting me with your vision. I hope to work with you again one day in the future. Until then, many blessings to you. :) **Before pics for the wall are included.

Another custom order is complete!

Since I began my business over 3 years ago, I've worked with close to 100 clients, if not more. Although I appreciate each and every one of them, they become even more noteworthy when they are repeat customers. Because of this, I once again thank you Susan Mia for entrusting me to assist you in creating the vision you are wanting for your new home. Enjoy!!

I apologize for not posting this custom order sooner, but here it is now. 🙂 My client wanted her piece to resemble a picture we found on Pinterest ( you can find it listed here, last photo ), however, she didn't want as much distressing on hers. I must admit, I was a bit anxious because I had never done anything in this manner before. Nevertheless, I got to work and, I have to say, I'm quite pleased with how close I was able to get to the original. Thank you, Lisa, for allowing me to "test" this on your actual piece. 😉 Enjoy!
**Before pic included.

A Little of This, a Little of That...

Hello, my name is Robin and I am the owner/manager of “Faded Fences...” You can find my quaint little shop at 2435 Cedarville Rd. in Chesapeake, VA. I am a wife and a mother of 2 teenage daughters living on a little “farmette” with our horses, goats, pigs, chickens and, even our ornery old turkey, Arnold! :) I have dabbled in creativity for most of my adult life...from Interior Decorating, to furniture building, to furniture refurbishing and painting. I have a passion for making things that are old “new again.” I cherish exploring new opportunities with colors and designs. I offer newly refurbished furniture and accessories for resale, as well as refurbishing one’s own pieces and “how to” painting classes. I would love to bring my creativity to you!
