A few kitchen design tips and some thoughts to consider:)

More and more people want to "gather around the KITCHEN" not just the table!

Kitchen design must haves:
1. Super functional spaces - lifestyle is paramount in your layout, flow, prep and storage
2. Easy to clean
3. Flows with the style of your home
4. Uses good design principals
5. Maximize your space
6. Transitional/Contemporary spaces are on the rise and clean and simple lines are now coveted
7. White kitchens are decreasing and 2 toned kitchens are on the uptick adding warmth to the space
8. Be careful you don't make choices that "date" your kitchen

The classic "work triangle" is starting to phase out leaving more room for "work zones" This is creating more workspaces which draws people in allowing interaction and avoiding isolation!

When asking our in-house designer Vicki Collazo what a few of her pet peeves are when designing a kitchen, I learned a few things. She puts a lot of value in classic designs and finishes and she isn't much into watching "trends" on television. Vicki wants perspective customers to focus on "FLOW" when it comes to design. She thinks most people are married to the work triangle, but as our kitchen spaces get bigger that "triangle" just doesn't work any longer. Focus on zones instead, she says!

This is an interesting article that sheds a little light on mistakes to watch out for and "must haves" when designing your kitchen!
