The Kitchen Place was founded in 1983 by Alec & Betty Osvath. Alec began his career designing kitchens in the 1960’s for PK Lumber in downtown Dayton as well as Better Kitchen Supply (Beavercreek) and Southern Ohio Kitchens (Dayton). Betty started out in 1980, designing for Better Kitchens Supply Outlet on old US 35, east of Xenia, Ohio.
Alec and Betty had always dreamed of starting their own kitchen business and in 1983, they opened the doors of The Kitchen Place. Their first year was a success and they added more lines of cabinetry. In 1984, their daughters, Karla and Kelly, joined the company part-time while attending Wright State University. Karla went right in to sales and design. Kelly worked as office manager/bookkeeper (and sometimes making lunch). Before the days of computer-aided design, Kelly hand rendered clients' new kitchen plans. Tom Detty joined the company in 1985. Jimmie Sprigg of Xenia, was the part-time delivery driver. After college, Karla married and moved to Chicago and now resides in Lafayette, IN. After the passing of her parents in 2000, Kelly carried on the family business. Kelly and Tom became the new owners. Kelly resides in Oakwood and Tom lives in Xenia. See us on HOUZZ. Click the links below!
