H❤️ME

A very special piece to hang in a downtown business. Home is a special place, but it's also a feeling you feel deep in your heart. Home is where your favorite and most loved people are.

This one-of-a-kind unique piece is made from 100% reclaimed wood from weathered snowfence out of Johnson County, various corral fences in Washakie County, turn of the century barn in Washakie County, and a CNC routered blue pine center. Each piece ripped, cut, and glued by hand. Just like fabric quilting, only with wood. The wood is exactly the color it was on its property.

This piece took me a bit longer than they usually do because it had to be something completely different than what I've created in the past. Cut a few pieces, place them, take a picture, walk away and study it. It measures roughly 4' x 4'.

Are you looking for something unique to hang in your special place?

Kicking off 2026 with this sweet little Texas star for a wedding gift. All the wood is from reclaimed fences here in Washakie County dating back to the early 1900s.

A balmy 40° day well spent pulling nails out of this late 1800s outbuilding here in Washakie County. There were lots of fun treasures buried in the dirt, buckets/boxes and lots of things hanging from nails. I can't imagine the number of snowstorms, rain, hail, wind, sunshine and wicked Wyoming weather this building has stood through. If these walls could talk!

Remember that fence from last week? Here's one board ripped down to create quite possibly the coolest texture. I think it looks like feathers laying in a symmetrical design. Just a small part of the wood quilt in the making.

It doesn't happen often, but when the opportunity rises to go pick "stuff" off a ranch for a wood quilt being given as a wedding gift, it gets real personal.

And, as luck would have it, I found an old horse shoe in the dirt at a "horse house" on the ranch. The wood is from that seriously old late 1800s house, by my guess, and some other weathered wood laying around. A rusted rake, rusted gate hook and rusted horse shoe for good luck. I even had some rusty old nails to use for attachments to the quilt. A woodworker doesn't throw anything away! Ya never know when you might need it. 🤣🤣

The Fence, Part Two.

The patina on this section of the fence has so much color and grain showing from close to 100 years of weather and elements here in northwest Wyoming. All of the nails have been pulled, so the cows won't step on them and it's easier to not only store the boards, but run them down the table saw and miter saw for what's to come.

And then the glowing full moon from my driveway! Exclamation mark on the evening.

This fence has been on my "I gotta have" list for many years. Tonight, I finally got to start taking it down so the owners can put up a newer, sturdier fence for their cows. Early 1900's, lots of nails and so much character in the pickets. Rough-cut, sawmill lumber, no two alike.

Then these bossy babes showed up to supervise my nail pulling skills. 🤣🤣🤣

9 years ago!!! I had to share this refinishing again. It's so dang pretty!!

"According to the patent number stamped on the back of the pull k***s, this furniture set dates around 1930. It is a Walnut veneer that refinished absolutely incredible!! It was sanded down with 150 grit, stained back with Minwax Provincial and finished with a Minwax Satin Polyurethane (3 coats). The k***s are all original, soaked and scrubbed! A huge thanks to the Dooley/Swing family for the opportunity to bring these beautiful pieces back to life to be enjoyed by yet another generation!"

Next up in the woodshop. These 2 great pieces are from a repeat client that has trusted me with several other pieces they have picked up over the years.

One will require a great deal of elbow grease and the other is more lipstick and mascara kind of refinishing. They will both clean up incredibly and I look forward to bringing them back to life to be useable.
