No I’m not breeding mottled. Yes, I have two laying hens so occasionally I do hatch them. They will stay here and enjoy their cute little silkie selves. But also why do silkie chicks have the meanest mugs! Just trying to admire the little grow outs from my birds and Silkie Ridge Farm 💜chicks I hatched to elevate my breeding program.

So many good eggs set to hatch 6/12 and I’m so excited to add those to this mix as well. I’m setting the incubator one last time for one last gigantic hatch at the end of the week. I’m talking almost 60 eggs. Then I need to stop for my own sanity. I may even make some BBS chicks available to the public with this hatch! All frizzles and showgirls I will be retaining to hopefully add to next years breeding program.

Things have certainly been busy here! With all the chicks that have hatched, creating safe space outside for our little farmer to play, getting the vegetable garden planted… when has there been time to come up for air?!

The emus grow at such high speed I feel like we can’t document it all! If anyone has extra towels that would greatly be appreciated. They aren’t like raising chicken chicks so we have to be mindful of what they have underneath them. So far we’ve been using bed pads but there’s only so many we can rotate through with what we have. These little raptors p**p so much! At this point they have to be 2-3x the size they were when they were born the beginning of May!

Well I learned today that our llama Romeo LOVES Bananas. Who would have thought?!

After planting 165 tubers I realized I had a box of tubers in the mail I forgot to get. So now I have to dig up 8 tubers and plant what was delivered. Then find space for the almost 40 mystery tubers I have left. I will say that was a Mother’s Day well spent- working hard to create something beautiful this late summer early fall! Also we had a majestic visitor land in the trees! A bald eagle!

Treated myself for Mother’s Day at Fox and the Buck Farm for their Mother’s Day market dahlia tuber sale! Can’t wait to grow all the pretties and make stunning vases for everyone again! I also picked up this amazing handmade mug from Field and Feather Farm CT. Just another small farm supporting other small farms!

The three little stooges 😭 we’re SO IN LOVE. Today all three are starting to get stronger and not bobble their heads so much. They are beginning to stand on their legs instead of sitting back.
If we thought our children grew in a blink of an eye these little ones are going to be almost to my hip height in 3 months! We call them our fat bottom babies because they are shaped like a bowling pin 😂

&& now there were two! The third egg has been left to resettle after these two knocked it around in the incubator! Hopefully in the next few days it should hatch! Fingers crossed! For now it’s nap time as hatching out of those massive eggs is a lot of work! 🥹🤍🩶🖤🤎
