There’s been a lot of chicken talk and posting lately as I step into my more serious breeding role with the silkies. But let’s not forget the lovely ladies who shine so much light in our lives daily. This is by far one of my most favorite photos I have of our group of girls!

Belle is pregnant and we eagerly await her cria in September! Fingers crossed it’s a grey 🤞🏻. Crow was bred on shear day so I think it’s time to bring Romeo over for the good ole’ wives tale, the spit test to see if she’s pregnant. They say if a female is pregnant she will spit at the male to show them they aren’t interested in mating. I hope she is so we don’t have to endure that mating session again! This way we can expect a cria from her next April!

The calm before the storm. The storm that knocked out power to our farm. We are STILL without power. Thankful and blessed we have a back up Generator or I would have lost my entire silkie batch currently hatching from breeder eggs I purchased while on our mini vacation in DC. I would have also lost all of my silkie eggs and new silkie breeder eggs I just got last week and set. Unfortunately we had to turn our AC off because it pulls too much power on the generator and we don’t want to overwork the generator. It’s going to be a toasty day today. 🥵 Stay hydrated and cool & enjoy our roses!

What a day! Got to celebrate a wonderful little boy & his birthday today with the alpacas! Always love bringing the alpacas to Jack Drake - Western CT Weather & The Dear Darling Co CT! The weather was perfect today and couldn’t ask for better day! We follow Jack daily for weather, whether the weather cooperates for farm chores that’s another story! Also if you need a family photographer Kat is your gal! She has documented every milestone for us over the past 2ish years and we couldn’t be more thankful for having these two in our lives!

We didn’t water the vegetable garden or the dahlia field purposely because we were expecting this crazy thunderstorm! Just moments before the wind started whipping through the trees. These pictures don’t do it justice how dark it truly was! I would have grabbed better shots off the back deck but I had to rush myself and our toddler inside while Jake closed up the barns for the animals.
