Snowed in today. Got some juke work done. Had to really cut and fit one of the new pillars but the other 3 fit with just alittle trimming. I got to use my new Dewalt power tool which was a huge help. Cut through the new cover easily Got the foil and trim on. Newly chromed change return installed, new change door locks, and all 4 pillars in! Back is killen me from working on the floor. I am really liking the way the new hardware and paint is blending with the old. I wanted to leave just alittle patina on these two jukes. Some surfaces are painted while others I just left as found. Its working. I left the original internal paper instructions intact. There old but amazing that's still there after all this time. Adds to the aura of it.

Been awhile but got alot done since then. Gold foil in cabinet interior. 3rd coat of poly on. Gold grille cloth on. And I am especially proud I got the pillar rotating color wheel gears back in and rotating freely. That was a surprisingly odd challange this time around. Now, another fun part...polishing the steel trim to a mirror finish... so slow but adds sooo much.

2nd coat of poly. Brown paper bag paper is awesome for sanding between coats. I tried it and yes, it works. 2nd white wash, sprayed all aluminum, and completed back doors. Had a surprise visitor at my door inspecting my work. Told him flock off.

I speak-r from experience. Repairing a small tear like this is way better than recone-ing the whole thing. This repair came out great. 50/50 wood glue and water with some paper. Used a sock to wedge from behind. Had an original speaker reconed once and it killed the low end. No booming base like everyone remembers. Was told thats expected. Never again. The original speaker is the best. New replacements are fine but you need a large load resister to balance the amp again. More work. This repair saves this speaker and will never be seen. Rock on for another 75+ years.

Soo....this blows. Found side veneer, of which I recently applied, moving. Press on it and watch it flex...What!!?? Big bubble along the side curve. Cant ignore that, not right. If your wondering if it is harder to take off freshly glued veneer than 70 year old paint well I got your answer....it is. Alot harder. Like removing gum with a dull spoon. Why this happened? Not sure. To much glue? Veneer pinched on edge to hard forcing veneer to lift off side face? So, damn. Remove and try again. 7 sanding discs be damned.
