The Hitchcock Chair Company

The Hitchcock Chair Company 100% American Made Solid Wood Furniture In 2006, the famed Hitchcock Chair Company closed its doors. For four years, the name lay dormant.

In 1818, Lambert Hitchcock founded an innovative chair company in the northwestern hills of Connecticut, where he produced his beautiful hand stenciled furniture. Those who recognized its unique quality and craftsmanship were able to find fully restored Hitchcock furniture through Still River Antiques. In the spring of 2010, Still River Furniture, LLC was founded with the purpose of continuing the

Hitchcock legacy. They purchased the Hitchcock name, plans, and artwork. The goal is to bring Hitchcock furniture into the 21st century while maintaining the quality and integrity of Lambert Hitchcock's original dream.

Up in Southwick running a pickup with the wife so we stopped at ShoreShot Cafe for lunch. Found this little chess table that I rarely see around. I know I have the stencil set, but it's not overly common to see one in the wild. (I was of course irritating her by IDing all the chairs as well.)

Improvise, adapt, overcome!

The fact that I don't have a big compressor or my spraybooth yet doesn't mean I'm out of commission. The new paint that I've moved to is a water base, so it's actually fine to spray with basic ventilation. At least for small stuff, running a fan and having a big door means that I can get started on projects, even if it's not how I would normally choose this.

Man, moving shops is long. The power is in (call-out to Holmes Electric) and the tools are here, but I still need to pipe in the air and the booth is waiting on a part. Still, there is work being done.

It's going to be Tuesday before I'm in reliably, but if you have small jobs - parts, reglues, minor repairs - I have a shop and couple hands, and the bigger jobs will be getting into prep works as soon as the capability is hooked up. In the meantime, Mark gets his chairs, and we get to keep going.

I'm at the showroom from 8 to 4 today over on Groppo for one big, last chance at 30% off. Mostly chairs at this point, so grab a seat and then take it home with you.

This Saturday is the last weekend before we're fully moved out, and we're gonna stay open longer to move as much inventory as possible.

Come in Saturday the 25th from 8 to 4 for maybe your last chance at our whole in-stock inventory at 30% off! A lot has left, but there are over 50 chairs alone, from $300 all the way down to $40.

*sigh*
Sometimes handling archives means you need a bigger table than you really have. Fortunately, I have a large concrete floor. I have never really seen this artwork in total, and I really hope that in the piles there is a full set.of these stencils. Someday we'll see.

Long day but boy is the new spot filling up!Just a few more days and I get to switch from moving out to moving in.
