Yesterday, a client reached out to reschedule. My first thought? I was excited to use that time to lesson plan for my psychology classes! I spent the rest of the day in flow.

This semester, I am teaching Child Psychology too. Drawing on my life's work in addition to the curriculum. Early childhood special education. Raising a family. Organizing with neurodivergent clients and their families...

Thrilled to receive my 15-Year Golden Circle badge from the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals during Get Organized and Be Productive Month!

This milestone represents hundreds of amazing clients and 15 years of learning and evolving as a busines owner. I couldn't have gotten this far without them.

Here's to the next chapter of continued growth!!! ✨🥂✨

My career was built on 15 years of saying “yes” to...VOLUNTEERING!!!

To gain hands-on experience, I started volunteering to organize wherever I saw an opportunity! Non-profits are always looking for help with storage areas, so organizing in that setting was a natural fit.

I read about an amazing organization, Special Spaces, who "creates dream bedroom makeovers for dependent children ages 2-19 with cancer who are within one year of treatment." I reached out and offered my services and had the priviledge of joining them on a few makeovers Special Spaces Illinois Crayons Gone Wild Murals Such an amazing group of people!

I joined NAPO Chicago when I started my business and within months volunteered for the marketing committee to start their Twitter account. That led to the board, where I served as Professional Development Director, planned service projects, and eventually chaired the Marketing Committee.

My service to NAPO Chicago opened the door to the NAPO National Marketing Committee, (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals) where I later served as Chair. I helped develop the Brain-Based Conditions Certificate, created a required course for it, and spoke at the national conference. In 2022, I was surprised and honored to receive the Service to NAPO Award for outstanding volunteerism.

Today, I focus my volunteer energy as the leader of NAPO’s Hoarding Special Interest Group and as a co-chair of the Executive Board for the Chicagoland Hoarding Task Force.

Not only do I fulfill my desire to help others, but volunteering has been a vehicle to build my network and hone my leadship skills.

The 15 year anniversary look back continues! 🎉

Early in my career, I had the surreal experience of working behind the scenes three times on popular TV hoarding shows (A&E's Hoarders & TLC's Buried Alive).

I shoveled lasagned squalor with our team in hazmat suits. I shared lunch in a storage shed with organizing icon, Geralin Thomas, and chatted with a little person on her front lawn about which shoes to keep. The experiences taught me how the process worked in that context.

As I continued the work and connected with Children of Hoarders Inc., I learned an important lesson. While these shows raised public awareness, they often prioritize drama over dignity, and spread misinformation.

That understanding directly shaped my practice today. My work is about redefining success considering safety, collaboration, and reducing shame.

My 15 year podcast journey is a story of showing up, even when you have no idea what you are doing😁

It started as a guest on a show I admired, James Lott Jr.'s, The Super Organizer Show. Then on a whim I applied to host National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals podcast... made it to the second round, and bombed the live tryout. Undaunted, I made my own little "podcast."

When Covid hit, I was volunteering as Chair of NAPO's National Marketing Committee, and my first job was to audition the next podcast host! I found an incredible partner in . For two years, we produced and scrutinized membership for dynamic voices.

When Clare insisted I be a guest I did not think I was interesting enough… but she wanted me to talk about TikTok (where I had somehow amassed 180K followers as an early adopter).

Later, I guested on KC Davis's Struggle Care podcast.

The 15 year lessons? Say yes!, volunteer, learn from the "bombs," and keep showing up 😊

15 years of "Finding My Voice": From Community Talks to National Conferences 🎤

My first presentation was terrifying! I accepted an invitation to present, but naively bit off more than I could chew. Looking back I learned so much! I kept at it and soon began the circuit of local libraries and community workshops.

This led to panels and presentations for NAPO Chicago, a keynote for Illinois Family and Consumer Science Educators, a virtual expo for the Chicagoland Hoarding Task Force, and the national stages for National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals and the Institute for Challenging Disorganization .

Whether explaining how to "Declutter Like a Pro" or highlighting "Asset-Based Approaches," the goal is the same: bridging insight into action, with respect for the expertise in the room.

Every talk built on the last. The lesson? Considering context!

Do you choose a word for the year?
My word for 2026 is, INTEGRATION!

After a year focused on "Stability," I am ready to blend my professional identities (Professional Organizer, Psychology Instructor, Hoarding Consultant) with my creative work and community psychology practice.

Professionally, it means letting my work in homes, classrooms, and communities continue to inform and enrich each other.

Personally, it means creating a life structure where all my roles have a place.

Creatively, it means making writing a non‑negotiable part of my community psychology practice and a vehicle to help others.

Let's DO this!

Who has been with me since the beginning?!?

Join me in celebrating my 15 year DECLARE ORDER professional organizing journey! What started as a transition from working as a Developmental Therapist for Early Intervention of Illinois (where I saw no opportunity for advancement - lol!) led to a career spanning three fields: education, community psychology, AND professional organizing...over the past 15 years!!!

All month for "Get Organized and Be Productive Month," I'll be sharing more photos and stories from the past 15 years.
Follow along! 🎉🎈😀💗🌞
