What a great FireDrums 2019 event! Thanks goes out to the FireDrums Promotion Team for their professionalism and handling the dB issues, and a big thanks to all the Professional Performers from throughout the US and outside the US for a beautiful and safe event. A big Thanks goes out to Aaron and crew for pulling the Event Center back from Mother Nature's harsh winter and spring storms - the weather was great with a small amount of "dust settling" rain on Friday with warm temps and cloud cover. Big time kudos to Chef Scott, John, Sous-Chef Jennifer and Crew for providing meals fit for the occasion.

Its that time of the year when Mother Nature puts its touch of elegance on the beautiful valleys that line the Sierra foothills and mountain areas. After 2 to 3 months of "hard work" clean-up of the disastrous winter leaving huge downed trees in the meadow, across the roads, on crushed equipment, Aaron and Crew once again established control over the Blue Mountain Event Center. Just ready and waiting, the Blue Mountain Event Center and its inviting beauty awaits the 2019 Spring, Summer and Fall private event followers. Yes - a place where You can be You and enjoy being one on one with Mother Nature and the Freedom of the Blue Mountain Event Center.

Mother Nature ripped through the Event Center these last 4 months with high water, high winds, low snow, downed trees on the roads and into the meadow and many roads washed out with heavy rains and mud slides. Some major highway have been closed for months. CalTrans and Calaveras County Road crews are rebuilding the highways and roads so the traffic can flow. Aaron and crew will be chain sawing their way into the meadow and by May the Event Center will be beautiful once again for all to enjoy. See you there!!

BMEC survived the Butte Fire and we survived the very dry 2015. The lake and the creek dried up and we've lost between 10 to 15 acres of trees on top the hill from the draught and bug kill. We'll be milling the larger pine and fir trees for lumber to enhance the Event Center with a new large deck on front of the white farm house and repair the floor in the bathroom. The Farm House kitchen will become the Event Center kitchen with up to specs on all items required for large private event kitchen. All smaller trees will be bucked up for camp fire wood and for sale on site.

"Environmental Friendly" Camp Fire Wood will be bagged up like you've never seen before. Using recycled paper grocery bags we add a blevit of gelled alcohol (Environmental Friendly Na**lm) in the bottom, then build up with kindling and logs. Just set the bag in the fire pit and light the bottom of the bag - unlike na**lm, nothing blows up - you get a very nice camp fire in minutes. We'll have dry pine, doug fir and oak with extra bags of fire wood for sale at a better price that your Valley or Foothill Markets.

We are loaded up with 2016 Private events including a wedding and music events. The chances of taking on more events for 2016 is unlikely - however give us a call and we'll see how the schedule looks.

Prep work on the BMEC completed from 9/10, 11, 12 and 13. Aaron and I put all "stuff" possible into the center of the meadow. Cleared fuel under the trees on the south side of meadow. Cut lines and cleared quad trail where possible. Cut additional line on top of the hill and north of Mitchell Mill Road. SPI used dozers to cut lines all around the SPI property which surrounds the Event Center and cleared to trees and brush on Mitchell Mill Road. We were set up to Stay and Defend the Event Center, however with only one way out which is towards the fire's front, the chance of SW winds 10 to 20 mph, along with the extreme dry conditions, dead trees, 200' trees surrounding the meadow, dry creek, dry pond - Aaron and I talked it over and decided to leave the Center up to Mother Nature. Loaded up the pick-up and 1 trailer load of important items (Quad, Generators, etc.) and headed out. Will we have anything left when we return? Stay Turned - because we will return to pick up the pieces and hopefully have an event center for future concerts and Veteran Events. Steve

Georgia Alice Cartwright 1918 - 2018 Our Story

The Event Center is located on the site of an early 1882 Sawmill. Different sawmills were in operations at Mitchell Mill until the late 1940s. The old building located at the bridge was one of the many cabins built for the sawmill workers. Flooding and fires made milling difficult. The rich soil in the meadow area allowed for potato growing to help feed the hungry Loggers, Mill Workers and Miners and the Property was giving the name “The Potato Farm”. All permanent buildings on site were built from local timber and milled on site. The property was transferred from the US Gov’t to private ownership in 1882, however the Property was used back in the 1860s under a "possession claim" for growing potatoes and operating a water-powered shingle making machine by Leo Ham. After several transfers in the late 1800 and during the first half of the 1900, Georgia purchased the 217 acres in 1973 for Family use, private events and timber revenues. Georgia passed away at the age of 99 on January, 22 of 201. She loved sharing the Property’s beauty with others wanting freedom and privacy while sharing friendship with many others through music, art and the “power” of Freedom.
