I'm in Alma the next two days. Just a couple of blocks from the Highland festival. Come out and see me. There are also lots of other artists here also and a food truck that smells amazing. Please feel free to share. Have a great weekend.

Newer shorter style pianos usually do not have the type of material that I use for my woodworking. They are made from pine, plywood or particle board. That's why I don't take them very often. Most of it just heats my shop. The only useful part is the main beams on the back. They can be hardwood or in this case a beautiful hemlock pine. Add a little contrasting wood and you have a nice looking center piece.

Sometimes the most unassuming part of the piano has the best wood. These two boards were the very bottom boards of different pianos where the brass pedals were mounted. Painted and never meant to be seen again. Well not in my shop. I turned the left board into two beautiful boxes that I will be taking to my next art show in two weeks. I lined the inside with oak from the same piano to cover up the pedal mount holes. The top are the original veneers of the same piano.

This is the top of a piano bench that came with a late 1800s player piano that was donated to me. After cleaning up the top I decided that this wood speaks for itself and deserves to be it's own art piece. I'm just going to make a beautiful frame to highlight this amazing piece of wood. I feel it deserves to be looked at, not sat on.

Just a reminder that the wedding season is upon us. Here are some examples wedding ring boxes and wedding cake ceremony knives that I have made for previous weddings. If you or someone you know is getting married please feel free to contact me and we can work together to come up with a design together. They also make great gifts. Thank you.

The Burger family asked me if I could make them a bookshelf that incorporates parts of the crib all of their kids used. Here is what I made them. I used the original spindles on the sides. The back panels are from the original head and foot boards. The feet were part of the original headboards. The rest is made of solid white oak. Keeping with my theme of always putting piano wood in all of my items, I used piano foot pedal dowels for accents on the top. Thank you Burger family for letting me turn one family heirloom into another piece that hopefully becomes another.

Just finished up and delivered this side table upgrade. The client wanted an update for the top they were using for the cedar that has been in the family for decades. The top and legs are made from locally sourced walnut. The cherry and poplar are from repurposed antique pianos. The piece on the legs that has the amazing scroll work is the original music stand from a baby grand piano made in 1895. I hope you enjoy having breakfast at your new table for many years to come. I had a great time making it. Thank you again.
