The frame was replaced. It was stripped down to the frame. This is what is done when the piece needs to be restored, not just recovered. The webbing was replaced and the springs were retied. All new padding was installed. The photos show the chair the way it came to us and how it looked when it was completed.

This love seat was so well made back in the mid 40’s Unfortunately, over the years the webbing dry rotted so the seat springs were falling down under the seat and the back springs were bowing out of the outside back. We corrected all this by removing everything from the frame and replacing all the webbing, retied the springs, replaced all the inside and outside padding with new materials. The following photos show the process. I only wish I had a photo of what it looked like before we stripped it. This work was done at Randolph’s Upholstery & Interiors

I hope everyone enjoyed the 4th of July festivities. We were blessed with perfect weather for it.
This is a chair we recently restored. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to take a photo showing the springs tied down in the seat. This piece was stripped down to the frame and rebuilt with all new materials. It went from that old gold color to a pretty off white print.

Now this is a neat piece of furniture. If anyone has any interest, a friend of mine is selling it. It has just been reupholstered at RUI. It can be used as an ottoman as well as to shine your shoes. 😊It is a vintage shoe console. You can own it for $325.
It is currently in my shop. If you call the shop, I will give you the sellers information.
