I originally had written a manifesto, but I figured a synopsis would do. Hi, my name is Andrea, and I’m a married mother of 2, back in East Texas after 20 years living in the North Carolina foothills. I am a huge horror fan, especially classic horror movies, anything Stephen King related, or the TV show Supernatural (I'm a Dean girl). I want to share my experiences, the victories and challenges of crafting and creating, while providing products that bring comfort and joy, form and function. Six years ago, after a decade of misdiagnoses, I finally had back surgery to remove a completely herniated disc and fused my two lower vertebrae together. A veteran waitress, I was told no more bending, lifting, or twisting — ever. My doctor recommended I apply for disability, but at 39, my pride wouldn’t allow it. I lost 100 lbs over the next 3 years, and generally, my health overall began improving. Right before COVID hit, I was even able to work 3 or 4 shifts a week part time, as long as I remembered to wear a back brace. With COVID came new challenges, and I decided I'd rather invest my time and energy in my own business instead of punching a clock for someone else. I have had to learn new limitations and assess my abilities. Every day is different, and I know that if I push too much one day, the next day will be one of recovery. My health, and the weather determine which of my crafts gets the attention for the day. In order of most physically demanding to least: Furniture flips, custom cups, and crochet comforts. Crochet was my first foray into crafting, and I will share that origin story in my next blog. The good days are outnumbering the bad ones, and for that I am so thankful. I am excited to start this business and share and grow it with all of you. Feel free to ask questions and suggest projects. What would you like to see on this page?
