Ending a long day at  Long Island Lumber. Both Band mills are ready for tomorrow with a good night sleep I will be too !

Grinding between the two Brewco wheels. After grinding the wheels, machine got all crossline removed. Saw dust plow got lengthening and more precise application in relation to blade location. Stuck my finger in the Bearing housing and the Oil feels like it’s got a little bit of grit so we’re draining the oil washing out the bearing and putting new hub oil in. Everything done to this band mill today was done on the basis of what’s not the way it’s supposed to be. Then change it so that it is.

Different areas have different needs and some areas in the United States don’t have access to natural gas and so Firewood plays a bigger part of household heating and of course restaurants use Firewood year-round. A good example is the woodfired pizza places.

This Horizontal band is getting replaced with a 42 inch three head block tilted carriage and a 6 foot Bandmill. This mill is gonna have a whole new set of obstacles, getting enough logs into the yard ,having to debark about four times as many Logs, more money tied up in receivables, and probably have to hire an additional board stacker. The joy of growing pains.
