To my upholstery customers who worried about my health over the last two years, here is me finally healthy.
Many of you were kind and supportive over the years as I sought out specialists and dieticians to help me with my heath problems. The vast majority of you haven't seen me since I was obese and perpetuslly tired with a moon pie face from prednisone.
Two years ago I was terribly ill after a bad bout of covid and I was worried I would die. Some of my sweet customers even remarked on their concern for my health and offered up referrals to good doctors.
I had several surgeries over the last year, one due to a serious cancer scare where my uterus and abdomen and bladder appeared to have half a dozen tumors around them, and an Oncology surgeon had to perform an open exploratory hysterectomy. Ten biopsies later confirmed no cancer, but my bladder was stuck to my abdominal wall and had to be pulled away, which relieved abdominal pain that had been blown off by docs for years. Lots of pain post op, stuck in bed, suffered from painful gastritis due to stress of surgery etc. Eventually I was able to get a hold of the reins of my health with the help of several concierge doctors and PTs and I began an amazing recovery, got put on several proper endocrine and hormone medications and began to lose weight and get my energy and health back. It's amazing what happens when you have doctors actually listen to you, and more importantly, believe you.
I gained a ton of extra weight after having two major back surgeries 6 months apart ten years ago, and the weight wouldnt budge no matter what I did. I had several endocrine/hormonal issues going on, and I really needed better docs, better workups, better care.
I'm 45 and only 15LBS away from my high-school weight, and I'm a size 6! (Cute flare corduroys from Ann Taylor Loft for 27 bucks on clearance, which is great because tall pants never seem to go on sale in my size.) It's taken me a year and a half to lose the extra weight while on this health journey, but I'm so happy to have my health back. Two years ago I never would have thought it was possible.
I'm so happy! Being fat for 10 years after being thin my entire life was awful. It's great to feel good and have energy again. It's also great to be treated like a human being again. Sad that our world, and even our healthcare professionals, are more often biased and shallow than not, but there it is, and I'm glad my time living through that is finally over.
To anyone else going through health issues, don't ever give up. Best thing I ever did was get a concierge P*P who had time to personally call in consults to specialists. Many were shocked at the poor care I recieved from previous docs, but that's a novel in itself titled : "Those aren't tumors or brain lesions, you're just fat."
Looking forward to working on all your upcoming projects, and getting out the ones hanging out with me currently!
