Good Morning! 🪑

Nancy’s chairs are finally done!! I know, it seems like a month of Sundays since we started them but oh well!!

I think this is the third customer this year that wanted their piece(s) redone to look just like it was originally. How fun is that?!?

If Nancy’s chairs could talk, I am sure we would enjoy the 30 years of family events they could share!!!

So happy we could give them a facelift for the next 30 years. 🧡

Have a good day! 👵🏻

Good Morning! 🩶

Final coat went on the dining chairs.
Mirror put back together.
Tim went to Ace to get a picture hanging kit that could handle the 72 pound mirror. 😳

Painted the cabinet.
Found a few scraps of Wendy’s favorite peel and stick paper.
Added the chicken wire to the doors.
Tried to put on new hinges. Failed miserably.

New screws were breaking off INSIDE the old holes. Anything that could go wrong, did. 🤬

We had to dig out screws, patch and repaint, and then walk away. Let the little cabinet think about how naughty it was for a while. 😉

If we can get those hinges to cooperate, y’all are gonna love how this little project turns out. So dang cute!

Have a good day! 👵🏻

Good Morning! 🪛

3rd coat of poly on the chair arms.
2nd and final coat of poly on the mirror.

While those dry, let’s tear apart Wendy’s cabinet!

Off come the doors.
Off comes the back.
Clean it up.
Sand it down.

There was green paint under the blue paint. I kinda liked the tie dyed look after I scuff sanded it. 😜

Hoping to get the final coat of poly on the arms today as well as putting the mirror back together and maybe some paint on the cabinet.

Love having several projects to work on at the same time!!!

Have a good day! 👵🏻

Good Morning! ⏰

2nd coat of poly drying on Nancy’s chairs.

1st coat of poly drying on Wendy’s mirror frame.

Priced out cost of re-silvering the mirror…..$300! So yea, we will be cleaning it up and enjoying its lovely aged patina. 😳

And finally, Wendy’s little bathroom cabinet was tested for lead paint. All good there.

Lots of “hurry up and wait” items on my to do list!!!!

Have a good day! 👵🏻

Good Morning! 🖼️

While the first layer of top coat is drying on Nancy’s chairs, I got to work on Wendy’s mirror.

This mirror came off a dresser and is so flipping heavy. No thin, flimsy glass on this bad boy! 🏋️

Took the back off.
Removed all the wood shims.
Vacuumed the of century dust.
Stripped it.
Sanded it.

Wendy asked if I could make it lighter. It is naturally a dark wood so to do that, I am trying a new process. Whitewashing it with watered down paint first, and then adding stain.

The first two stains didn’t do much for color so I grabbed some gel stain. That did the trick! Gotta trust the process, Karen. 😜

Can still see the wood grain but is a lighter version of the original finish.

Will add some polyurethane on it today and see how he looks. 🤞

Have a good day! 👵🏻

Good Morning! 🍑

While Tim was gluing up all of Nancy’s chairs, I worked on a little side project for Linda.

Linda dropped off a footstool she picked up at a yard sale and asked if I could cover it to match the chair I did for her a while back.

Heck yea! And another good reason to order extra fabric. She had plenty left over from her chair to do this cute little foot stool.

Thanks Linda! 🧡

Have a good day! 👵🏻

Good Morning! ☕️

Back to work on Nancy’s chairs.

Took off the fabric and decided the foam needed replacing. So lucky me gets to use my new foam cutting knife!!!!! That thing works so slick!!!

Cut and glued foam to seats.

Nancy found fabric that was almost an exact match to her old fabric. Just a tad brighter and cleaner after 30 years!!!!

Hopefully we can make them look just like they did when she brought them home that very first day! 🤞

Side note: I used to chuckle at Tim whenever he “had” to buy this tool or that tool because it would make his life so much easier……now guess who gets excited over new tools?!? 🙋🏼‍♀️😉🧰

Have a good day! 👵🏻
