To date, this is the second largest desk I’ve built at 8ft long and 33 in wide. I made the pencil drawers to spec, 100% out of walnut with maple ply bottoms. Lots of character in this slab. It was owned by the client and I CNC flattened it and gave it new life. Glad it will live on for many years to come!

***BEFORE/AFTER PHOTOS BELOW*** Hard to put into words what it meant to restore this piece of family history. My friend Allyson came to me with her dad’s high chair—70+ years old. She asked if I’d take a shot at bringing it back to life for her son’s first birthday.

This unique folding high chair had been through it—molded, rusted parts, and falling apart. I took it completely apart, hand-sanded every inch down to bare wood, reinforced weak joints, polished the hardware, and stained it piece by piece.

Seeing it now—ready for a new generation—is exactly why I love what I do. Allyson, thank you for trusting me with something so meaningful. It was an honor to help your family celebrate such a special milestone.

Here’s to another 70 years for this beauty. 👶🪑✨

Many thanks to Samuel Nelson, Realtor for asking us to build a desk for his office at The Harrison Lilly Team at THLT Realty. We managed to maneuver the desk up a narrow stairwell to the second floor without a hiccup thanks to the help of a good friend.

These leaf-shaped serving boards are among the most unique pieces I've crafted. The material is some of the oldest sinker cypress I've had the privilege to work with, sourced from a log retrieved from Bayou DeSiard several years ago. A magnifying glass is required to distinguish many of the growth rings. Suitable for use as either a serving tray or decorative piece, this item embodies Louisiana's rich history. From a practical standpoint, cypress is inherently resistant to rot and mildew, ensuring durability. Not to be used as a cutting board. Dimensions: 23.5” x 11” x over 1” thick. Food safe oils and waxes applied.

What is sinker cypress? Sinker cypress refers to trees that were timbered in the late 1800s and early 1900s during the industrial timber harvest era. They were cut and sent down rivers, lakes, and bayous as rafts to float to the sawmills. Many sank and have stayed underwater for over a century.
