Antique Kilted Woodworking

Antique Kilted Woodworking I restore antique dressers to their original look as best as I can. I also do other wood working, building whatever comes to mind.

I also make lights with bottles or mason jars and other handmade wood items.

Before and after, this is the first dresser I redone, several years ago. It came to me in pieces, and I had to rebuilt it and refinish it.

If anyone knows of some old dressers that a friend or neighbor might have that they are wanting to sell, please let me know. The older the better and not really looking for anything that has veneer on it, only solid wood.

This is my latest project, a late 1800's solid Oak dresser. When I got it, it was black. I removed the black and got back to the original oak color. It has Knapp dove tail joints on the drawers, which were invented in 1865. I put two coats of Odies Oil on it and this is how it turned out.

This is the first dresser I rebuilt about 5 years ago, about 2016. I received it from a friend in pieces. The only thing that was together were the sides and drawers. I had to figure out and piece together the inside framework. I believe this piece is from the 1850's to 1860's. I'm assuming the hardware was original except for the top two drawers. It was about 95 percent glued originally. I cleaned out all the joints and re-glued it back together. Light stain and some clear.
