Never underestimate the potential in a piece that looks beyond saving.

When I found this Kent Coffey “El Chico” set, the decorative drawer details were damaged and peeling, and most people probably would have passed it by. But underneath was solid vintage construction, dovetail drawers, beautiful lines and the kind of quality that’s hard to find anymore.

Instead of trying to perfectly recreate what was damaged, I leaned into a fresh direction — adding fluted oak accents, restoring the original hardware and refinishing the set in Shiitake by Sherwin-Williams (see my previous post for the reveal).

Sometimes the best transformations happen when you stop trying to make a piece what it was…and start imagining what it could be.

If you followed along during the furniture challenge I recently participated in, you may remember this cabinet started out in a bold emerald green inspired by the 2026 “Glamoratti / Neo Deco” trend predictions. While I loved the creativity behind it, I ultimately decided to pivot the piece into something that felt more aligned with my own collection and design style — moody, tailored, layered, and luxurious in a more livable way.

So… she got another transformation. ✨

This one-of-a-kind cabinet has been refinished in Falcon Brown by Benjamin Moore and features:• new fluted gold hardware• new glass• leopard wallpaper-lined interior• new gold locking casters• adjustable interior shelving (3 shelves per side)• rich, warm designer-inspired styling throughout

✨Vintage Lane burlwood credenza ✨

This piece had good bones from the start, but I wanted to lean into what makes burlwood so special instead of covering it up. The original burl veneer was preserved and refreshed, then paired with subtle integrated finger pulls and new brushed bronze legs to give it a lighter, more modern feel while still honoring the original design.

Warm woods, rich texture, and collected vintage pieces are having such a moment right now — and honestly, this one feels like it walked straight out of a Studio McGee or RH space.

Estate sale finds always make me wonder about their past life.

This beautifully carved Spanish Revival piece came home with me, and instead of trying to erase its age and imperfections, I chose to lean into the character that makes it special.

The worn finish, aged iron hardware, rich wood tones, and hand-carved details are exactly the kinds of elements that newer furniture tries to replicate — but authenticity like this can only come with time.

Of course, I gave it a deep clean, conditioned the wood inside & out with my favorite scented salve, made some small touch-ups and prepped it for its new home. .

Pieces like this bring warmth and soul to a space. Perfect as a dresser, media console, sideboard, or statement entry piece. Crafted in Mexico (hecho en Mexico), as shown on the stamp in the back of the piece.
