Dane was born in 1967 to Joe and Judy Turner ,he started working on cars when he was only 14 years old ,his first project was a 1938 chevy coupe Dane and his wife Angie started Dating when he owned the 38 and finished it at age
17 this was a project he got with his father Joe and together they worked on it doing body work, and Danes father showed him how to paint it and in the end Dane did the upholstery work in it and his sister Heidi did the head liner. Dane and girlfriend Angie (now wife) went to the 1985 prom together in the 1938 chevy ,2nd project was a 1972 jeep pick up that he did the body work on and painted himself and sister Heidi did the interior, this is were Dane got his love for doing Upholstery work , Dane and Angie drove to high school every day in the jeep and went to mud bogs in it as well as camping at the coast in Oregon, They have many memories in the Jeep with their children as well. Dane graduated high school in June 1985, then Dane and his high school sweetheart Angie were married march 1987 they then went in a partner ship with Danes parents in owning a grocery store in sisters Oregon called "sisters market" they owned that for 10 years all while Dane tinkered on cars, trucks, boats, motor homes etc. They had their 1st child in feb 1989 and their second in Sept 1990 then Dane purchased a 1957 chevy in 1995 and worked on and off on it over the years, all while learning professional Upholstery in Florida . He finished our 1957 chevy in 2002 in Vermont after starting our Upholstery business in 2000 along side our other business point Comfort that is on the same property that we purchased in may 1999 in West Danville Vermont ,were the Turners all moved back east where both sides of Dana and Angie Turners family's are originally from and reunited with family on both sides on the East coast. "Point Comfort Cottages" and "Danes Upholstery" is located on a good sized peninsula on Joe's Pond in west Danville VT with cottages lined around the water. At point comfort we also have boat rentals, tackle shop, storage units along side Danes Upholstery over looking the water. After many years of hard work remodeling and fixing things trying different things and though we still have lots to do point comfort is what it is today because of the Turners working together. On the same property were they opened Danes Upholstery in 2000 , all while working on his 1957 Chevy, he finished the body work then painted it and did the upholstery in it , with help from a friend named Bob Bunell of Danville Vt on the upholstery who showed Dane many tricks of the trade. You could say that the 1957 chevy is the founder car of Danes Upholstery, it is Red and white and a beauty, tho Dane can do even better work now ,he loves his 1st car finished at Danes Upholstery and it has memories for him just like the 1938 coop has for him with his Dad and wife Angie as well as the 1972 jeep. over all the years Dane has done upholstery on motor homes, cars, boats, motorcycles, etc ,he does convertible tops, boat tops and covers, and even does custom work, he has done misc. though he could charge more for his work ,he prices for his aria knowing that his customers work hard for their $ just as he does. many customers have came and after they see the job done... say... " i should have listened to my friend and went with you because I would have spent less in the long run, " many also say "Dane is the man to go to" though Dane and Family hate to see the customers go through such a terrible experience...they are glad they loved Danes work so much. Dane takes pride in his work and it shows in the end result. Dane works with many locals such as Darling auto , Fairly Marine ,the fire department, the hospitals, town of St Johnsbury as well as Al from Al's snowmobiles in Newport Vermont and many other classic car lovers. Though some things he can not beat the price on due to mass production, Dane spends many hours in making sure its done right and making sure his customer is happy with the end results,he does great custom work and he is a down to earth guy who works hard and loves his family and small town.
