With the warmer and (sometimes) nicer weather, I've been experimenting with different methods of interacting with chairs to avoid triggering mold reactions.

The good news is that it's been successful!

Just a friendly reminder to current and potential clients ~

Summer is the busiest time of the year for me. By June I’m usually booking 8+ weeks out for new projects. If a chair needs extensive repairs, this adds time to all projects.

Please plan for next summer by scheduling any chair repairs at the end of the season for repair over the winter.

It's been a minute... very cute wicker rocker with an upgraded seat in 4mm wide binding cane in the traditional 7-step pattern. There's an upholstered cushion that goes atop the seat.

Cesca Chair

After a thorough cleaning & polishing, the wobbly diamond-in-the-rough is resting with a clamp while the glue in the front joints dries. Onto some client work now.

Edited to add:
I didn't repaint this chair.
Cleaned it with TSP (non phosphate type), warm water, and 0000 steel wool, as recommended by a furniture expert colleague, then polished it with a soft matte wax. A cleaning and polishing are often all that's needed to bring the finish back. The polishing brought out the color of the original paint.

What is visible on the outside, versus the damage on the inside. Eek!

ETA: This damage is in a newer chair, likely less than 20 years old. Be wary of chairs from trendy chain stores advertising "reclaimed wood" imported furniture. This chair is part of a set, and I'm going to advise the owner to look for powder post beetle holes on the other chairs.
