Here we go again.... stepped back into my work room for the first time in months to work on this painting that was originally intended as a gift for my Mom. I hope to finish it one of these days... it's an emotional journey every time I add a bit more to it.

Just about to paint over the entire middle section of this oil painting. The perspective is off. It is a drone shot perspective and should be on a downward slope. As is, everything is shown on a straight-on perspective therefore, causing it to be skewed.

I hate it because there are parts of it that I really like, but as a whole, it is not correct.

The thing is- it's the same in life. If you have the wrong perspective, it can throw your whole life into a tizzy, skewing everything. When life gets wonky and you feel discombobulated, maybe check your perspective. Are you overly critical of others or even of yourself? Do you tend to go to the negative view or look for the positive. Are you taking time to refill your tank, or are you so exhausted that you are easily overwhelmed? Are you pouring into others or mostly inward focused? Are you too focused on what others think, or are you steadfastly doing what you know is right and letting the rest go?

These are things that I have found to cause my perspective to be skewed sometimes. I'm learning to take inventory when I notice it happening and make corrections.

Trying to work on this painting a little more today. I'm toying with changing the perspective a bit... I think I've "painted myself" a bit of a challenge going with the "drone perspective". The elevated perspective is challenging for me to get the hillside slope correct. Inexperience. I was just trying to fit the entire scene of mom's memories in one scene. However, if you are actually standing on the hill you would not be able to see all of it. So I'm contemplating moving myself down to standing on the hill behind the apple tree. May be too late to work that out we'll see..... thoughts?

Having a little "at home" time right now so I am taking advantage of the time! Finishing up some personal projects that are looooong overdue. These chairs are finally finished!! I bought them at an auction shortly before we sold our house (5 years ago 😬) and stripped them down and BEGAN painting them. Then.... they've sat in my work room ever since.

Until a couple of months ago... I finally finished painting them in an old patina finish and covered them with fabric that I found on the scrap table at a Foam and Fabric. I thought they were finished but I wasn't really happy with the teal trim around the back (it was more of a bright aqua than deep teal) so I just replaced it with the perfect shade of teal to match the seat fabric and I'm finally happy with them!!

A total of $45.00 per chair... not too bad. I love furnishings our home with things that might otherwise end up in a landfill and making them beautiful again.

The last 4 pictures are the only "before" pictures i have. 😄

I haven't posted on this page in a while but after almost 1 year, I'm finally working on the painting I started for Mom in 2023. The first photo is the progress from this morning, the second photo is where I stopped last March.. Although I know it won't be a great work of art, I am making a little progress....my goal is to at least finish it. It was a special place for mom.

A little more progress. . .

I'm finally getting back to this painting I began last July. This is just the under painting. It was meant to be a birthday present for my mom but time ran short and it didn't get finished in time. It is a special painting to me and although the clouds crackled from last summer so I won't be super happy with it, I still want to finish it.

A little elevated thinking today... 😁

First coat of limestone plaster applied today. Second coat goes on tomorrow. I sure do love the rich velvety texture and dimensionb of this finish.
