This bathroom vanity was a really fun project, mainly because the customer was an absolute blast to work with. She knew exactly what she wanted, had a clear vision for the bathroom, and then gave me the freedom to run with it.
I think the vanity really brought the whole space together. The natural color and character of the Eastern Red Cedar paired with the stone sink created a great balance and gave the bathroom a unique rustic look without going overboard.

A little throwback to our 2025 Quonset hut build. This was a big project and a lot of work, but it was pretty rewarding watching it come together piece by piece.

We built this space to give us more room for woodworking, furniture builds, and all the other projects that seem to keep getting bigger around here. There were definitely a few lessons learned along the way, but that’s usually half the fun of building something yourself.

It’s been great seeing how far the shop has come since then—and even better getting to put it to work.

My nephew runs his own car detailing business from home, and for his birthday I wanted to build him something he could actually put to work.
This pecan cabinet was built to organize all of his detailing products, tools, and equipment while giving him a solid workstation for the business. I had a lot of freedom with the design, which made this one a fun build.
Pecan is still one of my favorite woods—the color and grain are hard to beat. The custom engraving was a nice finishing touch and really made the piece his own.
Keep grinding, Signature Shine!

This was a great project because the clients came to me with a rough sketch and a general idea of what they wanted, then gave me the freedom to bring it to life. We were able to design and build something unique that they really loved.I even have photos of the original barn being taken apart, which is pretty incredible. Getting to build something new while preserving that much history made this a really cool project.
What makes this piece even more special is the history behind the wood. The timbers are roughly 250 years old and came from a barn that was deconstructed in England and shipped to the United States about 45 years ago.

Pecan is one of my favorite woods to work with. The mix of light and dark colors, wild grain patterns, and natural character can make every slab look completely different. Once it’s milled, dried, and finished, that character really comes to life. It makes for some awesome one-of-a-kind tables and furniture pieces.

My client spent a lot of time traveling through Europe and really liked some of the fencing styles he saw while he was there. We took some of that inspiration and created this custom live-edge Eastern Red Cedar fence. Eastern Red Cedar is an incredible wood for outdoor projects because of its natural resistance to rot and decay. With proper treatment and maintenance, it can hold up extremely well outdoors while still keeping all of that natural color and character.

I just got my hands on the mother of all black walnut logs - we're talking over 12.5 feet of pure, unadulterated tree-ness! It was so big, I had to trim it down just to get it through the mill without needing a forklift and a team of oxen. The slabs are straight fire, with natural figure, rich color, and more character than a Marvel movie. I've been hoarding these bad boys for over two years, and I'm stoked to finally turn them into tables that'll make people say, 'Whoa, did you really make that from a tree?'

Beautiful black walnut and a little wisdom at the end—free of charge
One thing worth noticing in these photos is just how much lighting can change the appearance of black walnut. Natural light versus LED lighting can bring out completely different colors and tones in the exact same piece.
There’s something timeless about dimensional black walnut furniture—or really, anything made from black walnut. The rich color and natural grain give it a look that never seems to go out of style.
This conference table was built for a brokerage firm just south of Dallas. It was a fun project to work on, and I think the finished piece fit the space perfectly.

Unfortunately, this is an older photo. Today it’s 95 degrees and I’m pretty sure heat stroke is now part of the job description. 😂
