After two years of discussions, Home Watch of CT has established buyers groups with three local home heating fuel providers, and we are excited to announce our new partnerships!

Now, by being a customer of Home Watch of CT, our clients have the option of joining the existing discount groups we have set up.

Many thanks to the management teams as we look forward to continued partnership with all three companies!

Home Watch of CT received a late night call from an owner with Moen Flo water monitoring device. 💦

The homeowners were alerted that the water usage was 0.2 gallons a minute. This is not a lot of water, but it should have been zero, as the home was unoccupied.

Between the monitoring device and partnering with Home Watch of CT, they were covered! Home Watch of CT went out and found the furnace’s expansion tank had gone bad, and the system was releasing steaming water through its pressure relief valve at a steady pace.

Thanks to our partners at Murphy Heating & Cooling, Home Watch of CT ensured:
⏰ A tech was out within half an hour
🔧 Both parts were replaced
🛑 The water was contained to the unfinished portion of the basement

Without Home Watch of CT, or if they had waited until the next morning, likely much of the carpet and flooring / drywall of the finished areas would have had damage.

Recently Home Watch of CT received an alert from a combination power/humidity/temperature sensor that the temperature at our client's house had fallen below set parameters.

Upon visiting, we discovered that the emergency furnace switches had accidentally flipped off, likely searching in the dark for a light switch. This had left the house without heat at all, and our newly installed sensor alerted us of the issue before it became a huge issue.

Home Watch of CT has seen these accidental switch flips in the past, and will proactively install switch covers at our client's houses. These can still be opened, and add an extra level of security for potential damage.

HOME WATCH OF CT GENERATOR REMINDERS!

If you experience a long-term power outage your generator's oil level should be checked 1x per 24-hour period if it is being run around the clock. This will reduce the chances of overheating/issues.

Additionally, you should alert your propane company of the continued use— most companies stop by on a structured cadence based on average use, but if you burn through your oil at a faster rate, they may not arrive as soon as you need them.

Not having proper pest services is risky! 🐭

We often find mouse damage on generators and pool heaters, but inside the house they can wreak havoc too.

In one client’s home we found a mouse had chewed through a pex water line which created flooding in our clients home. 💦

Fortunately, Home Watch of CT found it quickly, and put a plan in place to reduce the continued water damage that would have taken place.

For our clients with radiators— we are now checking heating systems utilizing thermal cameras.

In this house, one radiator was operating as expected, while another was not operating at all.

The home’s furnace was just serviced weeks before.

Keep in mind— Just because you have your furnace serviced, does not mean that the HVAC tech is checking the rest of the heating system.

But in this case, the Home Watch of CT client was covered!
