President Zuma of South Africa has been a disappointment in the handling of the situation in South Africa and the continuous silence of most of the governments in Africa is really senseless. Currently, the main opposition leader in Ghana, Nana Akuffo-Addo, has strongly condemned the heinous act of mass murder in South Africa. The response of Ghana's foreign minister is devoid of seriousness and the President of Ghana( John Mahama) is extremely slow in responding to the situation appropriately.
GMW calls on President Jacob Zuma of South Africa to act quickly in bringing an end to this shameful act. If the situation is not checked with immediate effect, its repercusion on the African continent could be devastating. This should be avoided at all cost.

Vote for me so I retrench you in 2017 - Dr.Bawumia exposes gov't's tactics
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), is predicting a massive retrenchment that will sweep through the country come 2017 after Government surreptitiously baits Ghanaians to get their mandate in 2016.
He said the government is indirectly telling Ghanaians to "vote for me before I fire you."
The policy, Dr Bawumia stated is one of the many grim conditionalities imposed by the Fund as a result of Ghana's decision to opt for a bailout.

"My understanding is that government wants the IMF agreement to delay the worker layoffs until after the 2016 election. I wonder why? I suppose the message is “vote for me before I fire you”.

He was delivering the 4th Distinguished Speaker Series by the Central University College under the theme “The IMF Bailout: Will the Anchor Hold?"

Dr. Bawumia admonished Ghanaians to prepare themselves for the “painful adjustment” that will come with the IMF bailout. Regrettably, he asserted that most Ghanaians have no idea how difficult the adjustment to the bailout will be because “government continuous to paint a rosy picture”.

Already, Ghanaians under the current government, he said, are being “squeezed” by increases in petroleum products, utility prices and layoffs due to the power crisis, and wondered “how much more austerity can workers take?”

He stated that the three-year IMF bailout will result in minimum increase in wage as opposed to the envisaged increase in utility bills, which he predicts will be significant, pondering further “how understanding labour would be as the austerity measures bite”.

President John Mahama recently stated strongly that he has developed the “dead goat syndrome” and would therefore not kowtow to pressures from labour, going into the 2016 elections. This, according to Dr. Bawumia, is a clear sign that demand for high wages by workers would not be met if Government wants to consolidate its fiscal target.

Ghana's Debt Increased 116% Every Year Under the NDC ---Dr. Bawumia
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, Mahamadu Bawumia says although Ghana is no longer described as a Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) we are now a Highly Indebted Middle-Income Country (HIMIC) because of the NDC’s recklessness, incompetence and sanctioned corruption.

At a Distinguished Speaker series lecture organised at the Central University College on Tuesday, Bawumia says Ghana is in an economic crisis because NDC wanted to win the 2012 elections.

According to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, four years after Ghana was once described as an “Africa rising story”, the country is now in dire need of an IMF bail-out of $940m.

Presenting his facts, Bawumia noted that between 2001 and 2008, Ghana’s GDP quadrupled.

He said Ghana also received $4.2bn in debt-relief after completing the unpopular Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) programme.

With the discovery of oil in 2007, there was international confidence that Ghana was ready to take off, he went on.

Indeed, Ghana did take off after it recorded a 15% growth in the economy to become one of the fastest growing economies.

However, come an election year in 2012, Ghana’s fiscal indiscipline was unleashed; recording a budget deficit of 8.7billion or 12% of GDP - a record in Ghana's economic history.

Government spending increased to 31% of GDP although revenue had increased by only 18.1% leading to deterioration in public financing.

Bawumia says Ghana can no longer return to HIPC for debt relief but is now a 'HIMIC' country, a coinage of his own.

Kwabena Agyepong and Chairman Afoko are impeachable
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana has always stood the test of time and it is highly incumbent on all members of the Danquah Busia-Dombo tradition to have this mindset going into election 2016. Leaders of political parties are voted into power to champion the course of their respective parties and lead their parties to victory. Hon. Dan Botchew of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) did it even in the face of limited resources. He was able to achieve this with his team because they all started on the right footing by building up the confidence of all members with the indication that they were in position to win power for the NPP through their hard work, discipline and tactical decision making. The end result was perfect for the NPP and Ghana as a country.
When it comes to the current General Secretary and the National Chairman of the NPP who are in the persons of Mr. Kwabena Agyepong and Mr. Paul Afoko, the situation is entirely different and negative. It is about time all the party members called spade a spade before the unwanted happens. Ever since these two individuals assumed their respective positions within the NPP, there has been thunderous unrest within the party due to their wrong moves from day one. Is this a self-fulfilling prophesy, a sheer arrogance to destruction or a tacit will to lead the party to opposition again even in the face of all the glaring opportunities for victory in election 2016? This is an honest and proactive question that every loving member of the party as well as every loving Ghanaian should be considering. Mr. Kwabena Agyepong and Mr. Paul Afoko have been wrong from day one.
It has become apparent that both Kwabena Agyepong and Paul Afoko feel like they are above the laws of the NPP forgetting that the same delegates of the NPP who voted them into power can impeach them and put new committed individuals in office for effective manning of the operations of the NPP so as to ensure the long awaited victory of the main opposition New Patriotic Party of Ghana.
GMW (Ghana Must Work) can authoritatively state that the only hope Ghanaians have is the NPP and most especially, their presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Posterity will never forgive the NPP if it fails to win election 2016. On this note, it is very vital for members to start thinking of impeachment possibilities in line with Kwabena Agyepong and Paul Afoko. The process of impeachment is well enshrined in the constitution of the NPP and it is a window of opportunity for all members who would want to see the NPP back to power. The party is bigger than Mr. Kwabena Agyepong and Mr. Paul Afoko
GMW has observed that if members of the opposition NPP do not proactively put these two officials of the party in their place, the end results could be very devastating.
A word to the wise is enough.
Long live Ghana!
