Yesterday we planted forty-four tomato plants in the garden, and I raced against the first rain drops as I was finishing up. Then the sky opened up and we received rounds of heavy showers, probably receiving at least three inches of rain! Mind you, there has been absolutely NO forecast suggesting this amount of rainfall in a few hours. In fact, all the forecasts have suggested somewhere between one and two inches for the WEEK, with some locally higher amounts ๐ณ Otherwise I wouldn't have decided to plant all these tomatoes ๐ But as I was getting close to finishing, I spotted a couple of four-leaf clovers and am hopeful it was an indicator of what's to come for the garden this season ๐ Thankfully, all of the tomato seedlings seem to have come through the deluge unscathed, and will likely be the most hardy tomato plants ever! ๐ค๐ผ
(Photos with the ponding water were taken after the first heavy shower. Most of that had receded/absorbed into the ground before the next round of rain started, and today there is no standing water).
