It’s been awhile since my last post. I’ll try to keep it short. 🥴
Last February, Benny boy started to really go to school. Like all day. I wish I could tell you it was because of some amazing behavioral therapy or all the counseling we’ve gone through. Nah! It was because of a sweet girl. A new friend named Jewel. She brought Ben out of whatever fog he was in. ♥️ (This Mama will be forever grateful!)
Ben went to prom.
Ben graduated!!!
Ben started another year of school (this year) focusing on life skills.
Ben went to the Homecoming dance!
Ben is wearing tennis shoes instead of CROCS!!! He hasn’t worn them since elementary school!
Most importantly, Ben asks to go to school every day!
So now I’m creating again. Starting off with simple, fun projects that Ben & I can do together. Teaching him how to tie knots. He likes picking out the yarn 🧶 and the feel of it. But what Ben loves the most? He loves bossing me around while I work! 😂 Baby steps!

just an update coming your way.

Ben is a sophomore now at Kellam High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He still has severe school anxiety. The staff is amazing and works with us every day to get him in the building. Ben is doing his best. He always has a smile on his face and joy in his heart. That’s all we can ask for!

I’m looking forward to creating again for Christmas time. 🎄

So, here is a fun Christmas 🎄craft to do with those pool noodles left over from summer. (Or go grab ya some from the Dollar Tree...) Also, Michael’s has wonderful sales on ornaments. Make sure you grab plenty...cause you’re gonna need them. 🥴 Click on each picture to see how I created this super fun, easy and festive decoration for Christmas! I sure do love how the first wreath turned out...it’s time to start on the second one. 🎄♥️

It’s been awhile since I have posted. Life as always gets away from me. Ben is now a 9th grader at Kellam High School. Virtual learning is going well for him.
We are easing into his schedule. Benny likes his teacher! He is getting used to new friends. ❤️
Now that he is settling in...
I am able to create a bit more! I was able to score this beautiful piece for $25. It needed a lot of love. ((I had time!!))

📚Hello everyone!!
I know it’s been a while!
But some exciting things are happening in Ben’s world.
It’s the beginning of another school year and Benny is starting 9th grade!
Yes, I know!
High School!🥴
However, this year school is starting out virtually. Where some folks might think this is a bad thing...this Mom is using it to her advantage. 💯
Ben is showing up everyday to log on to his classes. Is he logging on to his 8:30 am class yet? No, but give me time!
I see the tide turning for both of us. 🌊
I see me getting back to my wood shop & creating again.
Oh how I miss the smell of sawdust!
I see markets in our future.
Until then...
I’ll take each tiny victory of his as a step in the right direction! 🛠🎨

I know we’ve been off the radar lately. We just take things one day at a time. However, it’s October & it’s time to acknowledge all the wonderful people who rock that extra 21st chromosome. Ben is officially an 8th grader at Landstown Middle School. He has good days & bad ones. However, we like to focus more on his good ones- like the days he struts into school on his own ready to start his day. 🕺🏻 Having a dual diagnosis of Down Syndrome + Autism can be tricky, but we take things as they come. Ben is just like you & me! He is full of love, laughter and loads of wisdom. Take time out of your day to get to know someone like Benny! ♥️

Also, on a side note- I have not put up my paint 🎨 brushes, saws, hammers or creative side....praying this ole Mom will begin building soon. It’s time! 🛠
