Tim Schilke has been creating one of a kind functional art since 1978. Every piece he creates is designed to become a family heirloom. Starting with discarded, non-living woods, Tim gives a new life to his creations. Live-edge coffee tables and side tables sparkle with rivers and pools replete with life. Clocks of all shapes and sizes take on the gentle flow of nature. Headboards, wall sculptures, chairs all are pieces of art as much as they are pieces of functional furniture. The artist, Tim Schilke grew up in Port Angeles, Washington, where he came to understand and appreciate the natural beauty of burls, roots, and driftwood. What appears to be a lifeless mess of wood and twigs to the untrained eye, is the beginning of something beautiful in Tim's hands. This is the broken red cedar burl. I have 4 coats of polymer resign on top. 3 coats of polyurethane on the driftwood legs. The tide pool has real shells and coral. Check out web page at driftwood burl furnishings.com and remember I do custom orders. 805 795 0618.

Just finished these business card holders out of Red Western cedar and redwood burl. I sanded them down to 220 grit, and put 2coats of varathene gloss finish.

The 1st piece that you see is a hallway table that's made with bamboo, wormwood and a red Western cedar root top, filled with shells, arrowheads and other cool stuff. All this is sealed and protected in bar tuff polymer resign. The red Western cedar pendulum clock got honerable mention. The cool looking maple burl table got me 1st place and $600 bucks. It's loaded with beautiful grain and a neat little tide pool. The top is sealed with 2 coats of bar tuff polymer resign. Please check out my website or better yet stop by. This double decker glass table was made with real moose horns. The driftwood stand was sanded down 5 different times, with 2 coats of polyurethane. Please check out DriftwoodBurlFurnishings.com. Call me at 805 795 0618. I have been doing this since 1979.
I can Referbish and restore your old furnishings and make them look nice again. After I bought my 1st house, I didn't have any money left to buy furnishings, so I started making my own.
