Haven’t done one of these in a while. Finished up a project and needed to get this done and out of the shop. Patched the veneer in a few spots, reset and glued the drawers, sanded, sealed and stained to unify the look. All done over the weekend and I’m on to the next project. Swipe for the before. First of 10 ukuleles that I’m producing (all spoken for, sorry). It has steam bent maple sides and neck, sapele front and rear sound boards and walnut saddle and fretboard. It also has a epoxy logo on the back and special inlayed embellished rosette. It will be packaged in a sturdy plywood box with a sliding top for storage. This is # 3 in a series that will go to #12. Last of the vinegar/steel wool stained white oak pieces for a while. Needed a coffee table so I modified the form of a Gustav Stickley No.
603 Tabouret to fit the needs of the space. Walnut pegs secure the lower supports. Good time making it. Hope everyone is having a great day. Wood procured @

Here’s a look at the piece I was working on in my latest reel. Wedding card gift box. Inlayed script. Whitewash finish. Hopes it holds tons of gifts from loved ones. Latest refinishing project for a client very close to home. My home. This piece was actually gifted to me by a past client who felt this piece needed a home where it will be appreciated and loved. It was a family piece and when working it over I came across a shipping label mentioning it being shipped by Lake Shore and Southern Michigan Railway in 1898. It has Eastlakeish traits but also a little more Victorian feel to it and look at all that BURL. Piece stands just shy of 8 ft tall and really makes an impression. Hope you’re all having a great day.
