This week has been a time reflecting on all the inspiration I had growing up. As some of you know, the name of the business is homage to my grandpa Ed Schade. He, as well as many more within the family had a huge hand in helping build my skill set and passion of woodworking.

One of the things grandpa always taught me was that there was always a way, even when conventional methods would not work, there was always a way. This was while working on a captain's chest as a 4H project for my sister before she went away to college 20 years ago. We had no plan to work from and drew it all out on paper from our head. That is when he had taught me about jig building.

This week we have been working on a pencil post bed for another customer, Nancy. The headboard proved to be a challenge with being a trapezoid shape and a few arches. One of which had approximately at 650" radius. I don't know about you, but I don't have a compass nor space for an arch that size. So it really was like grandpa Schade was here working with me as we created jigs to be able to create more jigs to perfect this arch. He has and always will continue to be true inspiration for my woodworking projects.

Now working on the custom color finish to match Nancy's existing bedroom furniture. So excited to see this coming together and can't wait to see the finished product! Always enjoy the challenge and opportunity to work with grandpa looking over from above.
