A native of Pennsylvania, Mike attended the University of Pittsburgh and as a freshman, heard a pitch about the steel mills. Something about the process resonated with him - the heat, creation, the shaping of raw materials - and he was hooked. Mike became a material science engineer and
gained over a decade of experience in Pennsylvania steel mills, learning welding techniques from the old timers of the industry. Far removed from the grit of steel and the how-tos of building, Suzanne is a doctor by day, with a focus on patient care and wellbeing. She represents the softer side of things. Her lighter touch and eye for design can be seen throughout their home and in each piece that Mike creates. She loves discovering new pieces and sharing them with Mike for reproduction - or even enhancement. Design for her strikes a balance between purpose, simplicity, and beauty. Mike and Suzanne find materials and inspiration from their surroundings: old barns, industrial mills, and even magazines. They live with their children in Greenville, SC.
