Looking back one year ago today when the “80th Anniversary of Liberation bronze medallion was casted! This gift was presented to the mayor of Domažlice Czech Republic to commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation from German occupation during WW2. Back in my studio I knew In my mind this piece was not just another project or commission, it was a gift that had deep rooted meaning. I was asked to create this gift by .hero who is the grandson of the famous Two Rivers native Matt Konop who after months of fighting in Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge led the Army’s 2nd infantry division into Domažlice Czechoslovakia and to liberate what was his own grandparents home town on May 5th 1945. Another big thanks to and to for helping make this project come to life!

If you have an idea for a piece of furniture, I have the material to make it one of a kind! This Photo shows just a portion of the Eggers Buried Veneer Log Collection. These logs were unearthed in 2022 from the log yard at the old veneer company site. These very unique logs were harvested in the 1860’ from the untouched forests of northern Wisconsin, with the material dating back 300-500 years in age.

It was a great honor to welcome our sister city students and teachers from Domažlice Czech Republic to the workshop this week. What a great feeling it is to have the opportunity to inspire these young minds! The photo taken standing behind the “80th Anniversary of Liberation” Bronze medallions that and I created together to celebrate and pay tribute to these great people and the 80th anniversary of their countries liberation during WW2 by Two Rivers very own Matt Konop, the .hero who bravely led the 2nd infantry division back to his parents homeland in 1945.

When you look into the grain of this massive Flaming Yellow Birch surface, you are essentially looking back into time! A time where trees took up most of the land we now live and farm on. A land that had little to no European settlers. Sawn down around 1862 the log these boards were sawn from was around 250 years old which dates this tree to around 400 years ago when it was just a little sapling. A major thank you to for funding this one of a kind build to give this very special material a new life for people to enjoy and appreciate for many years to come!

Took a trip back in time today to visit one of my most prized works! This piece was designed and built in 2002-2003 for a very special client located in Downtown Chicago. I was only four years into business at the age of 24 at this time. Little did I know this was my breakthrough into the high end furniture market. The strength and beauty of this piece still holds strong, as it looks almost as good as it did the day I made my first delivery to the Windy City 21 years ago!

I present you the “Block Table”. Made from Longleaf Pine salvaged from the J.I.Case tractor factory built in the late 1800’s. Looking into the surface of this end grain table, hundreds of growth rings can be observed giving you what I believe to be a look back into time. These blocks were once part of massive thriving trees that grew only in the southern United States. The Longleaf Pine or aka Southern Steel was harvested to provide the materials that built our nations first industrial structures because of its unique strength. By 1903, 97% of the Longleaf pine forests were sawn down making this material nearly extinct. Today only 3% of the original forests remain hanging on by a thread as time passes.
