Appraisals:
At Agra we provide certified handwritten appraisals. Each appraisal includes an extensive description of the Origin, size, pattern/motif, condition, Age & value of your rug(s). Appraisals also include the printed copy(ies) a distal copy (email) & emailed pictures of each piece to accompany the appraised rug(s). All are on our company letter head & signed by our owner who is ORRA certi
fied (Oriental Rug Retailers of America). Cleaning/enzyming:
Our cleaning is all done by hand using custom made tools & machinery therefor providing our clients with the highest quality & outcome possible & each rug is cleaned individually to ensure quality, care, proper cleaning & sanitizing (especially when handling pieces that have per urine, etc.) our cleaning process can include an natural enzymatic step when necessary, as in the case if heavy pet urine, vomit & odors (this is not a bleaching & or chemical process to "mask" or "Hide" these odors, but it actually removes the odor by utilizing enzyme to lift & extract all the acidity that causes the staining, yellowing & odor. We use custom equipment all monitored individually by hand to prevent any damage, excessive or unnecessary scrubbing & or abrasive chemicals to provide the best outcome while Only using natural products that work with the wool, silk & or synthetic materials as well as the natural or synthetic dyes to restore the vibrancy, luster & brilliant color that is unmatched in a nice, cleaned & beautiful piece such as your rug(s)! As each piece is individually monitored we are also able to ensure quality unmatched in any process that is competed by putting it into a large machine or by submersing it into a "Rug Bath" that mostly continues to mix your rug with the elements (ursine, dirt, etc.) when resting in standing water while attempting a cleaning process. Our drying process consists of 2 key components, 1st: they are placed onto beams, then raised off the floor with fans constantly moving air over the front & backside to allow the rugs to dry quickly & most importantly prevent any mold, mildew or odor related to such from occurring. We Never use heat, such as a "heated drying room" as this over drys the materials & an cause dry rot, allowing the fibers to become increasingly more susceptible to the equivalent of a rugs "split ends"( like in the case with damaged hair) , also heat draws out all of the oils so important to extending the rugs look, feel & wear. After cleaning & drying, Each piece is then individually inspected & further prepped for the final touches such as the single most post cleaning process.... The replenishment of the natural lanolin & oils that exist in wool & silk. These important components increase the luster, softness & patina of your piece, but most importantly for longevity, provides a natural soil & stain retardant that will prevent future staining & permanent soiling as you continue to use your rug. Just as sheep skins emits these lanolin & oils, we re-apply them & allow the wool or silk to absorb them as needed to provide this very important level or protection & aesthetic to keep your rugs looking, feeling & wearing their best over many many years! In the case if synthetic rugs, we use naturally made & mixed Protestants to Serve the same purpose. Repair/restoration:
Each piece is specially evaluated to determine what kind of repair/restoration is needed & what options are available based on value of the piece, budget & the type of use each rug has. As we always will recommend the best & highest quality if repair/rest. We can always provide different options based on the above circumstances & needs of each rug & client. Our repairs range from simple binding/Selvedge (re-finishing the fringe ends of rugs/refinishing the long sides)
To re-building/reweaving holes in your rug starting from re-stringing the structure, then reweaving in the same fashion using the same techniques & materials that your piece was originally made with. Restoration such as reweaves (when completed) leaves the piece looking so great, only the trained eye & or another master rug repair technician could see that a repair was done. We provide free estimates/quotes & from either coming to your home for an In-home evaluation or having a client send detailed digital pictures of the damage that we can then extend a quote based on the pictures & information provided. Consignment/sales:
We provide consignment of any and all area rugs. Each piece is evaluated for condition & value & we can come to an agreement to the desired sales amount. Most rugs will require cleaning/repair to make them salable & usually we can provide these services Pre-sale w/ out any cost to you as the client, just adding these costs to the sales price & recovering these costs at the time of sale. Every consignment is tailored to each of our clients needs & this making the process simple & easy for our clients.
