AT 86 YEARS OLD, CHARLEY PRIDE STOOD ON THE CMA STAGE ONE LAST TIME… AND SANG THE SONG THAT CHANGED COUNTRY MUSIC FOREVER. On November 11, 2020, Charley Pride walked onto the CMA Awards stage to accept a Lifetime Achievement honor.
Then he did something no one expected — he sang. "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'," the same song that made a sharecropper's son from Mississippi the first Black superstar in country music history.
He told the crowd he was nervous. His voice wasn't as strong. But the warmth was still there — every note carrying 50 years of breaking barriers without ever raising his fist.
Thirty-one days later, he was gone. COVID took him at 86. That stage was the last place he ever sang.

Busy day removing honey from frames and getting ready for bottling. First photo are all the boxes containing honey in frames. Second is removing capping from frame exposing honey. Third putting frames in centrifuge extractor getting ready to spin out honey. Fourth dripping into clarifier. Dripping out of clarifier getting ready to bottle/label.

Collecting frames today with honey. Found 3 frames robbed out by other honeybees. Honeybees rob other hives when they are weak or during periods of nectar dearth. Every year there are some.

FINALLY!! The rain has stopped. JULY 19 (Saturday) Honey Day!
Get your pure Grasshopper Cottage award-winning HONEY SATURDAY (July 19) at 117 Lake Street (one street south of the mall in Trussville). 8:30 to noon. This honey is fresh from our hives! Just extracted and bottled this week. Ask questions and educate yourself about honey. Ask whether it has been heated, pasteurized or force filtered, our honey isn't. If you don't know the beekeeper, you don't know about the honey you are purchasing. See some of the hives in our backyard. All our hives are in Trussville.
Our honey is $16 1 lb. bottle and $32 a 2 lb. bottle.

We will hopefully be extracting honey in TWO weeks. We then will bottle and label ready for selling. I will tell everyone when we open for business. Thank you for being patient this year with all the rain and now high temperatures.
