Timber Beast Disc Golf Course

A quick progress report on the work being done at the Timberbeast following last week’s storm.

Mike Wallace has been at the course daily sawing logs and opening up fairways. Big Thanks to Jeremy Husentruit, Scott Wardian, and a couple of others for their help!!!

An excavator will be onsite today to start removing some of the bigger debris. Crews from both the City and County will be onsite with excavators and dump trucks later this week through next week to continue removing large debris.

The big equipment should be done with their work by the end of next week at which point it will be safe for people to come out and lend a hand. A public workday is tentatively scheduled for next Sunday, June 14. Any and all are welcome and encouraged to come out and help with the cleanup efforts!!! More info will be posted as it gets closer.

For now the course is still closed and we ask people to keep clear of the area. While we very much appreciate all of the offers to help, there are still too many hazard trees creating safety concerns to allow for the general public to be onsite at this time.

Our beloved Timberbeast course sustained considerable damage from the wind storm on Thursday night. Many of the large trees in the corner of the course containing holes 2-11 came down and three baskets were destroyed.

The course is currently closed until things can be cleaned up. Please stay away from the disc golf course until it is reopened.

Thanks to support from the City of Troy, cleanup work has already begun!! Mike Wallace, Jeremy Husentruit and others will begin cutting fairways open today with excavators already scheduled to come behind them to remove logs and debris later this week and the following week. Once the large debris has been removed, we’ll put the word out for an all hands on deck work day to pile and/or remove smaller debris.

The City has assured us that they will help do what it takes to make sure that the Timberbeast Challenge happens as planned on June 20th. The course will look quite a bit different, but it will be playable for the event! We look forward to seeing all of our disc golf family in Troy to celebrate 20 years of the Timberbeast on June 20th!

Registration opens for everyone at 8:00 PM MT time this evening!!

The early registration window is currently open for ALL Women, Juniors, and men rated 980 and above. This window will close at 7:00 PM so that division caps can be adjusted.

We expect most divisions to fill very quickly this evening. Any unfilled spots will be filled from the waitlist as we see fit to make cards work on June 4th.

Due to the high demand for limited spots in this event, players will only be allowed to sign up for one division on the waitlist. Staff will delete any waitlist entry’s after your first.

The Early Registration Window for the 20th Annual Timberbeast Challenge is currently open for:
🔵 ALL Women’s divisions
🔵 Juniors divisions
🔵 Men rated 980 and above
🔵 A couple remaining Early Registration Window Gold Sponsorships good for any division

The Early Registration Window will close at 7:00 PM to allow us to reallocate the remaining spots. Registration will open for everyone tomorrow, Wednesday April 29, at 8:00 PM MONTANA time. We expect the event to fill very quickly with some divisions filling within minutes of opening. Don’t miss your opportunity to register during the Early Registration Window if you are eligible!

The 5th Annual Master Under the Big Sky supported by Innova Discs is all wrapped up. It was great to see so many young at heart disc golfers enjoying the Timberbeast this weekend!!

Please plan to be checked in before 10:00 AM MONTANA time on Saturday so things can run smoothly.

Anyone is welcome to play Random Draw Dubs Friday evening starting at 5:30. $5 per person

Tentative starting holes will be published on the PDGA website at https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/100318 Friday afternoon.

CAMPING

Camping is available in Roosevelt Park for $5 per unit per night. You can square up on camping when you check in if you didn’t take care of that with your registration. Fires are allowed in the community fire pit only. See pic for camping details. Campers can use the entrance near the fishing pond to access the camping area. Please do not drive down the bike path.

It’s shaping up to be a great weekend in Troy!!
