A friend gave me this buffet. It had some unusual carvings in it and some kind of funky laminate covering on top and on the shelves inside. I filled in those carvings and sanded it smooth. The next post will reveal the finished product. I just couldn't make all the photos fit on this one!

So, almost 8 months ago I bought a table. It was in bad shape. But it had great bones. If it could tell the stories that it had heard!! It took me forever to get inspired about it. I sanded the top. I could never get all the old stain off of it. I painted the bottom three different colors. Ugh! I just could not make up my mind! I found a gray stain that had been mixed by mistake at Lowe's and I bought it for $5. Then the table started talking to me. Long story short...I'm done! The three colors of paint worked well for me. The first color (white) came through beautifully when I began to distress it! Enjoy. :)

Here's the coffee table in progress. I'm working with metallic paint so I'm kind of goofing around with it to see how I really feel about it. The color is warm silver (it's a rich champagne color, not really silver at all). The metallics in the paint give it a bit more texture than I'm accustomed to so I used that feature to show my brush strokes in an "artistic" manner. If you know me, you know I'm not remotely artistic! Honest opinions are welcome. I love doing this and I highly value feedback! Thanks!

I've had this large coffee table for nearly two years. It has finally revealed it's true hidden character to me! It may sound crazy, but the furniture always tells me what it should look like. Sometimes I have to be patient longer than other times. I hope I can do it justice. A few nicks in the wood had to be filled in and now it's ready for the next phase. I'll update again soon!

I'm not quite done with this side table but I'm so close that I decided to go ahead and post it. I love this French Provincial style. It looks so nice when it's finished! Pardon the rest of the mess. I took the holidays off from doing any furniture work but I'm back now! I picked this piece up on New Year's Day. I admit that I got a little obsessed and finished it in just 4 days! The mirrors are original
to the piece. My original plan was to have new mirrors cut, but I really loved the way the original mirrors looked when I put them back in. This has a shabby chic feel to it. Very vintage!
