What’s the difference between a “fit for duty” exam and a pre-employment physical?

A pre-employment physical helps determine whether a candidate can safely perform the essential functions of a job before starting employment.

A fit-for-duty evaluation is typically performed after an injury, illness, or extended leave to determine whether an employee can safely return to work.
